Vaisala Service Cable
« on: March 17, 2024, 08:17:34 AM »
Does anyone have a Vaisala USB service cable (USB to M8 4pin) that I can either buy or borrow?

I have a WXT536 which needs to be reconfigured.

In the case of borrow, I am quite happy to pay a deposit for it's safe return.

Alternately does anyone have the plans for said cable? I am capable of making the cable as long as I know which cable goes in which hole!

Any help will be gratefully received...

If I recall, and it has been many years, I took the cover off mine to photograph for a person wishing to make one, and there is at least one chip on a board with some surface mount capacitors and resisters on it, so it isn't just wire to contact inside of it.

I will look to see if I can find the pictures.

I have had mine in place for quite a few years and will need to look for the cable in one of 'many' places to see if I can find it.  No promises.   Dale

Hi Dale

Yes, the USB end will be an RS232 to USB conversion chip. It is the other end where the M8 Female attaches. four connections and 4 wires! But which order!

The unit appears to have Rc switched off in the config...

I saw your latest in the other place...

All the best

Jon

Dale

Having gone back to basics, calmed down and re-learnt what I needed about RS232, and got realterm installed, Rc has now been restored to life. Why it was switched off by the previous owners who knows...

Now all I need is some rain! And looking out the window, the sun is coming out, the radar shows no rain anywhere close!

Doh
