Meteobridge not seeing/loosing GW1000, data not updating
« on: May 19, 2022, 03:35:21 PM »
I am running a Meteobridge on a RPI3B.
My Froggit weather station is submitting data to the Meteobridge and to FOSHKplugin via a GW1000/DP1500.

Approximately 2 weeks ago I updated the GW1000 firmware 1.7.2 and after to 1.7.3.
I do not update the GW1000 very often and also do not restart Meteobridge too often.

After this MB somehow looses contact with the GW1000 and is not updateing for hours or until the next MB restart.
Interestingly the FOSHKplugin gets the GW1000 data regularly, so the communication on that side seems to be alright.

I also have another GW1000 with 8 indoor temp/hum sensors. MB is sometimes loosing them, too, but sometimes not.

I have no idea what I could try to get MB working again.

This is my MB log at 21:34

As per the log the stations (primary and station one) are both connected via TCP/IP => the GW1000 API is queried and provides a valid response.
"logger (19.05.2022 17:01:40): sensors are now providing data."
How does your RPi connect to MB ? Via WLAN or via LAN.
The WLAN connection of a RPi is famous for being potentially unstable.
I also have two stations (GW1000, both on FW 1.7.3) connected to my Meteobridge RPi (RPi4B) via LAN (Ethernet interface).
Running for 130+ days. Same with a MB Pro for 80+ days.
No issues ! I'd suspect a network issue or some EMI with the WLAN.
Do you have set up a MAC binding to the GW1000 IP addresses in your router ?

On the other hand, looking at your screen copy ...
What are your outdoor sensors ? Interestingly the rain gauge provides proper data - is it a WH40 ?
The raw live data could be interpreted that your outdoor array has issues ...
Can you provide 2-3 recent lines from the raw-foshkplugin.log file ?
Only one of your GW1000 can be connected to FOSHKplugin - which one ?

Thank you for your questions. I don't really know what to try.

The RPI is connected via LAN. IP address is assigned by Mikrotik router to both RPi and GW1000s. So that shouldn't be an issue.
It was running for a long time also here. I can't explicitly remember if the issues were there before the update, but I guess not.

I have a combined sensor array Froggit WH3000SE. I replaced it last year because of a broken humidity sensor.

Here is some data from the FOSHKplugin for the outdoor array.

Both GW1000 are connected to their own FOSHKplugin instance since months.

Is there maybe a way to feed Meteobridge via the FOSHKplugin?

I looked back at Wunderground and see, that the problems started at 6th of May.
Here is a screenshot from my Wunderground upload (done by Meteobridge) and from ecowitt.net (done by GW1000 itself).
Ecowitt.net is complete, while Wunderground has holes.

Here are some FOSHKplugin log lines from a "hole".

I don't know at what version MB was at that time. Maybe not restarted for 1 month before.

Now the other station is "offline", I didn't restart MB since this afternoon.

you can also connect to MB via the custom server function. "Ecowitt Custom Upload"

the raw-foshkplugin.log data from your station with the extra temp sensors is not so interesting.
What about the other with the WH65 array ? your primary station ...

you could also switch your GW1000s in MB and see if the symptom shifts to the other station.

It is the log from my primary station with wind and solar radiation data.

I will check tomorrow evening, how this custom upload can be done by FOSHKplugin (eventually).

you have to create a new RAWEW forward in FOSHKplugin to http://192.168.1.21:80/public/ecowitt2.cgi

Thank you very much!

I changed the primary station now in MB and added a forward to FOSHKplugin.
Let us see, how it behaves today over the time.

It was very unstable tonight again, see records from Home Assistant.

what I would have done is:
1st: leave the GW1000 driver (station) but switch the stations (i.e. primary will get the IP of station 1 and vice versa) - and observe.
2nd: check when during the day these gaps occur - the RF reception of the GW1000 may be disturbed at times due to outer factors
(many devices send in the public 868 MHz short range band)
also, if not already the case (and if possible) try to change the position of the GW1000 with reference to the outdoor array.

Do a factory reset with the suspectedly misbehaving GW1000 (note your sensor ID and calibration data down before as they will get lost) - press the middle portion of the front button for 10+ seconds.

As the FOSHKplugin is regularly receiving data from both GW1000 and MB is showing the same symptoms for both, I would rule out the RF issue in the first case.
I feed data to Home Assistant via querying the FOSHKplugins directly and in those cases I don't see holes. Frequency of queries is 1 minute.
Same sensor arrays, same GW1000, just a different information path.

I don't know what the method of getting data for the FOSHKplugin is and if it is different to MB.
If I see a full day without holes on primary station, then I will do a factory reset tomorrow morning.

I tested some versions and it seems, that MB doesn't like to have two GW1000 connected  since the new firmware.

I made a factory reset on both GW1000s and restored data manually on them.

I had both connected as GW1000 and Ecowitt custom upload.
If both GW1000 are connected, MB fails to read anything else from the primary station apart from rain data after a while. At first, it doesn't see Station 1 (GW1000). After it sees it, Primary station reading goes in error.
It is reading the values correctly from the Ecowitt custom upload fed by FOSHKplugin.

If I disconnect Station 1 (GW1000), but let primary and station 2-3 (Ecowitt custom upload) running, then everything works fine.

I didn't try to swap Primary and Station 1.

Maybe I should report this at the MB forum. It seems like a strange behaviour.

Hello everyone, this afternoon I updated the gw1100, unfortunately the connection stopped a few hours, and since on the dashboard the rain indicators event hourly weekly monthly yearly are at 0. Histories are not erased. Can I manually restore pre-cut totals? thx

yes - in the WebUI of the GW1100 or via the WS View Plus App.
Section: Rain Totals
Don't forget to save after having entered the new (old) data

I finally go the time together to report the issue on the Meteobridge forum.
The developer found an error and my system was working without interruption today.

removed - I had misread a post and replied based on this.
On revisiting the thread in the meteohub forum, my reply turns out to be nonsense - hence "deleted"
