Weather34 Template question
« on: February 18, 2025, 09:58:52 AM »
Apolgies in advance if this is not the correct forum.

I have my Davis Vantage Pro 2 sending data to my Cumulas MX software which is then uploaded to my website and displayed on the Weather34 template (Cumulus HWS template). It has been working just fine for several years and yesterday I noticed on my web page the wind indicator is only showing average and gusts and the direction now seems to show the average direction. I didn't change anything in the settings so not sure why it's not showing live data.

Thoughts?

Gordon

Hi,
And welcome to the forum.
Can you provide a URL link to your template site?
What CMX version are you using?

Enjoy,
Paul

Hi,
I must take my blinders off , your profile shows https://ve9gc.gmcotton.com/PWS/

The updates are provided by the realtime.txt file, and yours is updating once a minute https://ve9gc.gmcotton.com/PWS/realtime.txt
Is that matching your home page?

Enjoy,
Paul

Hi Paul,

As far as I know it matches.  I haven't made any changes since I installed the template.  I really don't recall seeing wind speed and direction being displayed like that.  I seem to recall it would on the left side show the last actual wind speed and not the average (average over how long?) Wind gust was always to the right of the compass rose. As well, the maximum gust in the uppper left is new.  Wonder if I inadvertently clicked on either the month or day in the bar under the wind speed?  If so, how do I go back to current?

Hi Gordon,
The template hasn't changed for a long time.
Mine looks similar to yours.  The source for the near "live" data is the Cumulus realtime.txt file and the content is:
Code: [Select]
Date Time Temperature Humidity DewPoint WindSpeed LatestWindSpeed Bearing RainRate RainToday Barometer WindDirection WindBeaufort WindUnits TempUnits PressUnits RainUnits WindRun PressureTrend MonthlyRain YearlyRain YesterdayRainfall InsideTemperature InsideHumidity WindChill TemperatureTrend TodayHighTemp TimeTodayHighTemp TodayLowTemp TimeTodayLowTemp TodayHighWindSpeed TimeTodayHighWindSpeed TodayHighGust TimeTodayHighGust TodayHighPressure TimeTodayHighPressure TodaylowPressure TimeTodayLowPressure CumulusVersion CumulusBuild 10minuteHighGust HeatIndex Humidex UVI ET SolarRadiation AverageBearing RainLastHour ForecastNumber IsDaylight SensorContactLost WindDirection Cloudbase CloudbaseUnits ApparentTemp SunshineHours CurrentTheoreticalSolarRadiation IsSunny FeelsLike WeeklyRain
The 6th field is WindSpeed which if I recall correctly is the stations recent average (I think Davis is over 10-minute period)
The 7th field is LatestWindSpeed which is the latest station gust.

I do notice that your charts are not displaying when clicking on the Feb or Today icons.

It is originally Weather34 by Brian Underwood that he no longer supports this, but it still works and has had some others carry it on
