Going to Replace with Davis-questions about data loggers
« on: February 08, 2024, 12:35:35 PM »
My Rainwise is having issues and getting help or parts is almost impossible.

I have a grant for a new station coming in the Spring. So I will be getting a Davis.
The station is not a problem, it is the logger/software/VVP. It has been a while so I need a refresher.

I use Weather Display but will also need Weatherlink.

I believe the new data loggers do not use loop2 and VVP will not work anymore.

What is my best option for a console and data logger? ( its been a while-I could also go steal the old equip off the old school---)

This sticky post is a few years old now, but still broadly correct:

https://www.wxforum.net/index.php?topic=39751.0

But it cannot contain the fine detail of, for example, exactly which software is compatible with which logger. But we do know that Weatherlink for Windows (and VVP come to that) can only ever be compatible with legacy loggers or related compatible loggers such as WiFi Logger.

Sorry, but I don't usually have time to help with individual issues by email unless you are a Prodata customer. Please post your issue in the relevant forum section here & I will comment there if I have anything useful to add.

You can use either the wifi logger or the DIY logger with VVPro. I have tested it and it works fine. I posted my docs about it in the Wifi logger/Meteopi section. I tested it with all software except Cumulus MX and any Apple software.

From a logging/useful perspective and do basically almost anything to anywhere then a Davis Envoy+MBNanoSD. These new Davis color consoles might look pretty but from a data perspective not all that useful.
