OSI Present Weather/Visibility Sensor Software
« on: May 30, 2013, 01:12:48 AM »
Anyone want to take a shot at creating an application which will poll this sensor and publish the data to the internet? The OSI application is pretty blah.

Any idea what one costs?? I get a little nervous when they don't post a price.

The spec sheet says the output is "RS-232 ASCII, simple polled protocol".

Do you have any info on this protocol? It should be a pretty simple thing to do, similar to polling a Davis console or such.

I can send you the technical manual which should tell you everything there is to know about that.

Go for it Brian! I assume you have a copy of the Technical Manual with the serial protocols in it?

I have one. I've had the OSI sensor for about 3 years now. I'd be happy to test anything you come up with Brian.

Now if I could convince the PWS sites like WU to allow me to transmit my own present weather and visibility data I would have it made.
