I'm Bored - My site is OK - but now what?
« on: September 29, 2012, 02:12:38 AM »
OK I am feeling a bit bored - my site is a bit static and I need to add something interesting to it.

I am in New Zealand and we do not have access to "free" weather resources like "Fancy Radar Images"

My site is at http://weather.crowe.co.nz

I have a number of things on my site that are all good but I feel like I want more.

I have been playing with Arduino's lately and would like to do something with that technology but not sure what.

But I want to create something new and useful for my unknown user base - http://www.computecnetworks.com/topsites/

I put my webcam (Olympus Sp500uz) back online since I created a simple relay reset circuit to reset the power when the software looses connection (seems to work). I still have to put it all on the roof but out the window is ok until I find a cheap source to mount the camera in. Here in NZ they want $50+ for a plastic box - ip66! - http://weather.crowe.co.nz/Camera/

Has anyone listened to my current conditions or forecast (currently using flash to play MP3) so not IPAD/IPhone compatible. There is a little [>] next to the current conditions and forecast on the main screen!

I need a new little project - but not sure what? - funds quite limited!

Just felling bored - I guess because I have gone to a very unique dashboard layout I am also limited in what I can display.

The options under your History menu do not do anything when clicked. Tried with both Firefox 15 and IE9.

And if you are still bored, you could try getting your website to pass W3C validation.

Great idea, that's what I did/do when I'm bored. Can you spot anything wrong with mine?

Thanks for catching that - I changed my menu the other day and have not put the links back!

cheers

Will,

Here's a not so subtle suggestion. Don't try to hijack someone else's thread with something that is NOT useful to the current discussion! I don't know about others on this forum but, I am getting really tired of the comments you make that have nothing to do with the topic being discussed. Idle prattle is NOT appreciated nor, in my opinion, to be tolerated.

As has been said previously in other responses to your comments, if you don't have anything that adds to the current discussion, DON'T RESPOND! You may consider this "over the top" but I really don't care any longer. You have become a real detriment and distraction to this entire forum.

Now, to all WXForum members, please pardon my interuption of this topic for a personal rant -  I'm going to shut-up and get back to trying to enjoy this forum and its mostly weather related topics...

Instead of weather, consider adding a local news feed or a local fishing report using this free rss to html script listed below. It keeps visitors returning everyday for new reports and feeds. Have been using it for years and many of my users have said with the weather and news all on one site, they don't have to jump around from site to site to find out the latest info.
