Welcome to the TEMPORARY home for weatherforum.net
« on: July 26, 2006, 10:32:42 AM »
Gary Oldham's weatherforum.net is in DNS limbo after the hosting organization (simple-web.net) appears to have gone belly-up while Gary was in the process of moving the registration.

Weatherforum.net is stuck for 30 days from July-14-2006 in the status of 'REDEMPTIONPERIOD' where only the original registrar (simple-web.net) can make a restore of the domain.. that seems very unlikely, so we have to wait it out.

Meanwhile, the group of admins from the forum (anole, noquitters, katscanman, kenmtrue) are helping Gary try to get a snapshot version running on a new temporary website while the rest of the DNS mess gets cleared up. We hope to do this shortly after August 1, 2006 when Gary has finished his move to Texas and his new job.

This forum is just temporary until we can get as much of the original weatherforum.net restored to service as possible, and Gary can resume the helm as captain of the forum he built.  While we will try to preserve postings made here when the merge is done with the original forum, we can't guarantee it.

Weatherforum.net will return .. meanwhile we can use this.

Best regards,
Ken

Glad to see you here Tommy.  I'm sure you will get lots of help and suggestions.  My initial comments are, first, don't type in all CAPS, it is considered SHOUTING   .  Second, you may want to change to XP or Win2000, ME is a condidate for the worst MS Operating System ever released.  Regardless of which weather station software you select, it may give you problems on ME.

Stay in touch!

Rick is correct on Windows ME...I would stay away. I had ME when it first came out and all it did was cause me grief. Stick with XP or 2k and you should do well.

I'll go one farther. Fixing PCs is how I make my living.

ME is the biggest hunk of garbage ever fousted upon the consuming public when it comes to OS'.

I'd go with XP, simply because most SW is built with it in mind and driver support is a bit better the 2K on the whole.

On a side note I'm putting together my first Vista Premium machine for my test bed. Should be an evening full of cussing and shouting.

I put a Vista beta together for my ISP testing, and after only a few days determined that it isn't time to do so just yet    It was a nightmare of issues, even with other MS product software.  Maybe closer to year end I'll give it a try again.

Start a new thread and let us know how it goes.
