Wow, expensive. I have been amazed at how cheap I can get a Reecom lately. They are good radios, but this new price is a bit much. I am not sure I like the green case either. Seems to have the same display and RF performance specs.

Very small units may be why the high price. They are really loaded with features but for 1/3 the cost the Model: R-1650D has everything I need, mainly ability to block all the watches, warnings except what matters. (Tornado and Wildfire warning)  Where I live in very large county I don't care about a severe thunderstorm, or flash floods 80 miles away at 3AM. Very annoying when my Midland goes off.

I grew to dislike my Midland last June the 2 weeks I was in Nebraska. Unlike the 300 I couldn't get rid of the unwanted warnings. So I ordered the Reecom R-1650D and knew exactly what alarms I could remove and it fit my needs. Think I payed around $40-45 shipped.  Those high dollar Reecom units are tiny 5x2x2.5" units, something you can stick in your pocket.

Excellent... Glad you're pleased. Have a $24 portable Radio Shack does that.  Bought the 300 to stream and alert home with, including 'strobe' flash... . It's all about "I Like it, and it fits the application".  Did I understand you? You couldn't turn off alerts on 300?   hmmm....

It was a 120 or something like that. Not the 300. I looked at the 300 but couldn't find any documentation what alarms I could shut off. The Reecom had it listed in the user manual so went with it.

One thing I like about these new Reecom units, is that they give you the ability to scan more than one transmitter site at a time. This would be ideal if you're on the border of two stations and want to keep abreast of what's happening in neighboring counties that are of interest to you. However, I'm not crazy about the colors on these new radios, or the size of them.
