Are there any android solutions for the usb data logger?
« on: November 19, 2021, 03:15:19 AM »
Here is my situation... I have Vantage Vue with a serial data logger connected to a serial to usb dongle. The plan is to connect the USB to an Android box.

Q1. Will the android box recognize the usb adapter? If it doesn't, is there a driver available? The chipset is FTDI which I've been told is the best.

Once connected, I'd like to send live data to WU, WeatherLink.com, and CWOP. I'm not terribly interested in archiving data though it would be a plus.

Q2. What app(s) would do what I hope to accomplish if I can solve Q1?

If all this isn't possible, what other low power options would I have? Raspberry Pi? Something else?

Thanks for your help.

Meteobridge running on a RPi does everything that you have in 1 & 2.

Plus it has the ability to add more online services if you become interested in the future.  The RPi version has the Weather34 template built into it, so that you have a good interface graphical  interface to your current Vantage View data.

Many ways to do it with compact hardware. I like RPi all the way for headless work. This is done with Metro Pi and a Pi Zero. Cheap, Reliable, Easy. It's been running like near a year or something now. Never quits.
