Insulating Blanket for Rain Collector Heater
« on: July 20, 2016, 11:11:50 AM »
It seems that every time I remove the VP2 rain collector cone, I struggle with the insulating blanket staying put. I try to hold it with my fingers as long as I can before I let the cone drop the last inch or so. I hope that it is actually in place OK, but there is no way to be sure.

Has anyone come up with a good way to keep the insulating blanket from falling out while replacing the cone? Today, I actually looked down at the step-stool and saw the blanket after I had refit the cone!  #-o

I got it back in place, I think holding it as long as possible.

I have considered some kind of tape, but I was wondering how others handle this.

Thanks,

Greg H.

Good timing since we are getting a heat wave.

If you are going to use a tape, I would suggest the aluminium foil tape for duct work. It is very thin and will shape to most objects. Works well in most temps.

Thanks, I do have some left over aluminum duct tape that I can use for this.
