Title: I have questions with wifilogger o ethernet logger
Post by: Javier on August 17, 2021, 08:25:19 PM
Hello at all:

I have a vantage pro2 wireless with weatherlink serial and I use virtual vp to connect "weatherdisplay", "weatherlink" and  "virtual weather station".

I don't Know how works weatherlink ip but I want Know if I can connect 3 weather software with wifilogger, ethernetlogger or weatherlinkip without virtuavp ?

If it works can I upgrade vp2 console firmware from 1.90 to new versions 3.xx?

Thanks.

You can only connect the WiFi logger to only one software program (I won't get technical). I have heard that is being worked on. There may be a way to do this without VVPRO but I haven't seen it posted here. As you can see I have my WiFi logger connected to VVPRO feeding multiple weather programs. One of the TPC lines in VVPRO feeds a test computer where VWS runs which provides graphics for my "Weather Frame".

As for the other devices... others here can help on that. I am going to say no you will need VVPRO.

WeatherLinkIP is typically single thread but systems like MeteoBridge can work in conjunction as the MB can be programmed to allow a window of opportunity for WLIP to upload to WeatherLink.com. Direct ethernet connections to 3 systems would be rather difficult

Upgrade FW from 1.90 should only be reliant on the age of the console? A console dated before April 2006 (or thereabouts) would not be possible.

I bought my weatherstation in 2009, it is after 2006 versión. If I upgrade the firmware then virtual vp don't work with 3 weather software.

Then If I put  an ethernet logger then I must continue using virtual Virtual vp but connecting with ethernet (IP).

Thanks.

My Ethernet logger is 1:1 with WL IP.
Maybe not 1:1 exactly. I have add WeatherUnderground and my custom export.

Port TCP 22222 works like WL IP.
Any export (WL.com, WU.com) are with minimum 1 min interval, because WL IP can read data once per minute.
Archive do WL.COM is being exported 15 min after every hour. Just like WL IP does.

I will add CWOP to Ethernet Logger and that will be all.

In my opinion Ethernet Logger is very robust and it should work perfectly fine with VVP.
WiFiLogger works in similar way, but WiFi can be disconnected, so software should be prepared for short gaps in transmission.
