My ethernet logger came in the mail today. I am very excited to have it up and running.
I do have a minor issue or suggestion on future models. I opted to power my logger with USB C via a POE breakout box. The back plate with the mounting holes it so close to the usb connector that I could not fit my plug. I simply used the supplied cover board as a spacer instead. It gave me just enough clearance to plug in the usb connector. Only a minor issue and not really sure how it could be solved. I love the fact that I can power my console and logger with a single ethernet cable though.
I also noticed that a newer firmware was available on the wifilogger webpage, but I do not see a option to do a firmware update from the web interface. Could someone possible point me in the correct direction?
I am also having a minor issue with cumulus which I will post in that section of the forum.

Don't mix up WiFi Logger and Ethernet Logger firmware.
During prototype, firmware update was done using FT Prog program to install it.
Your Ether Logger should have latest version I would expect.

I have not manual yet. I am working on it.
Firmware update manual will be also avaible.
It is not WiFiLogger. It has no update through web interface.
User has to use USB-C cable and software which comes from MCU producer. STM32CubeProgrammer (https://www.st.com/en/development-tools/stm32cubeprog.html)
- On Ethernet module you have slide switch named "BOOT". Please slide it on the left.
- Then click on reset button.
- Ethernet module should be discovered in Windows as "STM32 BOOTLOADER"
- Run STM32CubeProgrammer software.
- After firmware update please set "BOOT" slide switch on the right and click on reset.

I am also having a minor issue with cumulus which I will post in that section of the forum.
I do believe there will be no issue with Cumulus, which I will be not able to solved with firmware update.
Ethernet logger was tested scrupulously, but there is also place for mistake.
It is said that for full testing there is needed 12 people for 3 months involved in project.
Please report any undesirable behavior. I will take care of it.

I have noticed this issue just after I have dispatched batch to Ryan.
Problem is that USB-C has to be in line with Ethernet cable, becase Ethernet module can be powered from USB socket in router, so both cables will goes throught the same path to Ethernet logger and console.
I could also use longer distances on the bottom, not 3.5mm, but something longer to make place for USB-C plug, but then whole module will become less neat.
After all I will add bottom plate without wings. This wall mount plate will be in set, but default setup will be like this first one on the left:

I used the programmer on a Windows 7 computer. It works with just a few easy steps. Painless process.
I expect newer Windows etc. will run just fine also.

Thank you for the replies. Yes my logger was sent with V1.11 firmware and I noticed that v1.12 was available. I will try to do the update tonight when I get home from work.
I am very pleased with the logger and my issue with Cumulus ended up being a problem with the clock settings on my RaspberryPi. But everything is working great now, I just have to finished setting cumulus up and get my website back online.

- Please slide switch left.
- If device is powered, please click on reset button. If device is power off, then just plug USB cable. It will start in BOOT MODE.

- After job done please slide switch right and click on reset
** Please note that Ethernet logger has Watchdog Chip. It will reboot device after 3 minutes from pressing RESET button.
So to it will be refind by Windows every 3 minutes. Also you have time window 3 minutes to put new firmware.

Do you have any signal from Windows that USB device was connected?
If yes, then please check if driver was installed.
If not, please rotate USB-C plug. In general please check USB-C plug/socket

Unfortunately, there don't seem to be many users here who are able to respond to posts in French - English is the standard language here.
Also: This thread is about the Ethernet logger, but you're asking about a USB connection. I presume that you may be trying to update the firmware on the Ethernet logger via a USB connection? But the firmware in the initial batch of loggers was v1.11 AFAIK and the only enhancement available as yet is to v1.12 and this is only a minor change. So personally I wouldn't worry about updating the firmware for now. There may be further details online of how to perform the update later this year.

I read your post before with translator but did not understand the question.
The File Path is the location of the Firmware File on your computer. Hit the browse button and click the files on your computer to where it is located.
Make note of where it is located ahead of time.

Have you dwonloaded the file and unzipped it? This would make a bin file, in a place that you choose while unzipping. When you use the browse button, you click around your computer to find that place. Click on the bin file to choose it for updating the logger.

le logger est à jour et connecté au pc car je l'ai dans le gestionnaire des périphériques , mais comme je ne suis pas un pro en informatique pas facile.

OK. It shows you how to Update. If you have the current version, there is nothing required. It looks like you have attained how to connect if needed. But there is nothing required at this time.

You need to find the IP address of the Ethernet Logger by using the administrator page of your WiFi router. Enter that into a browser the same way you go to your wifi logger.

sur mon routeur Wifi ,je ne trouve pas l'Ethernet logger connecté pourtant j'ai branché le cable ethernet et les deux voyant sont allumés.Je pense qu'il faut activer la prise ethernet de l'ethernet logger avec une programmation?

There should be nothing to activate for the logger to connect.
It slipped my mind before but I should ask. Is your router for WiFi and ethernet cable the same device?
Can you look for the Ethernet logger from another device, like a laptop, that is plugged into ethernet cable?

Green LED ON - this mean Ethernet connection is set. This mean cable is pluged in, DHCP procedure is finished, full set of IP number is set.
If GREEN LED will be not ON, nothing in Ethernet logger will work.
Please plug ethernet cable to the logger and to the switch,or router, then click on RESET button in Ethernet logger. It should start and set Ethernet connection.
You have to have GREEN LED ON.

LED ETH - has to work, to allow any operation.
Interface is over web, so communication is needed.
There is a SETUP button. It has 2 features.
Please click it and hold.
1. After 5 sec. LEDs EXPORT and I think TCP should blink.
This option is to enable DHCP. This is needed when user will set manual IP and change router.
2. After another 5-10 sec. All LEDs should blink and this mean settings are reset. Memory is cleared.
Please try reset settings to factory settings then click on RESET button to start from the begining.
Please write here, or email me here (support@wifilogger.net) if it change anything.

Please unplug power from it. Then when you plug in power again. Do you have one blink of LEDs? ETH, EXPORT, TCP?
The same should happen when you click on reset button. All LEDs should blink once.
Is that happen?

Did you checked BOOT slide switch? Maybe it is in programming mode? Please check if it is on the right.

le wifilogger2 est bien plus simple d'utilisation , le MPE à l'air complexe surtout plus que le Davis datalogger IP.
Je suis le premier testeur en France du MPE , ils attendent de savoir s'il fonctionne bien avant d'en acheter.

Maybe something went wrong while firmware update.
Please slide BOOT to left. Then connect USB-C cable.
Click on RESET. Windows should find it as STM32 BOOTLOADER.
Please check it.
If it is working in BOOTLOADER. Then you have to repeat this procedure with firmware update.

BIN file you will find here in ZIP package: http://wifilogger.net/files/EthLoggerFirmware.zip
You have to download it, then extract from ZIP.
When you will have BIN file you have to use it in STM32CubeProgrammer software.
After proper firmware upload to logger, you should slide right BOOT switch and click on RESET button.
Please note, that proper working firmware will blink LEDs ETH, Export and TCP just after RESET button.
This is to show start and proper working of firmware.

Calculation like this can be while units are recalculating.
Rain collector can be 0.2mm, or 0.01in = 0.254
If you use math to round 0.254, then you will have 0.3
Do you have this data in WeatherLink PC software?
Please check units and rain calibration 0.2mm, or 0.01in in WeatherLink.
In general WeatherLink should download info about units and rain calibration from console.
In your case something did not worked.
Please note, that communication WeatherLink PC <-> Davis console is straight. There is no any emulator between.
Ethernet logger can not work, then there will be no communication, but if communication is working, then Ethernet logger is not changing anything in data which are being transimtted.

Console keep in memory number of clicks. Rain collector is clicking in general.
Then EU version has special weight, which can be mounted to change capacity of spoon from 0.01in(0.254mm) to 0.2mm.
Then in console you have 2 values.
1. Rain collector calibration. Which one do you have? 0.01in, or 0.2mm. This is physical. This has to be set by user. Because of this value console will keep volume of the rain in the cosnole.
2. Rain units. This setting is just for you. It is recalculating volume of rain to your unit. It does no matter if it is in, or mm collector. This is just for display.
Please check settings in your console. Please use WeatherLink PC to make this checking.

Connection WeatherLink PC <-> Davis console is transparent. Ethernet is just a medium. WeatherLink PC has direct connection to the console. Nothing is changing values.
Export Ethernet logger -> WeatherLink.com this is my implementation. Here if something is wrong then this is caused by me.
Maybe your cable console and firmware in it is doing something that it is not regular for new VP2.
Please note. You have problem with rain.
Davis can measure two values 0.01inch and 0.2mm.
0.01inch = 0.254
i = 0.254/0.2 = 1,27
You have two values: 178mm and 226.1mm
178 * i -> 178 * 1,27 = 226,06 -> 226.1
Your faulty measure is the problem with rain calibration and with units.
Ethernet logger is reading settings of the console on start, just after power plugin, or after reset button click.
If you have changed settings of the console via WeatherLink PC, then Ethernet logger has to be rebooted to read new settings.
But Ethernet logger reads those settings just for own export to WU, or WL.COM.
WL PC software is reading console settings and weather data by its own.

avec les trois WFL2 aucune mauvaise lecture de pluie sur weatherlink.com , les memes valeurs que la console ,que ce soit des vp2 US ou EU , cablée ou radio . C'est seulement avec le MPE.

c'est bon , je n'avais pas de pile de secours dans la console , donc j'ai mis des piles , puis j'ai debranché l'alim du MPE, puis rebranché et tout est bon maintenant . Merci!
