Title: Latest Davis VP2 Setup
Post by: alexstaar on June 16, 2021, 01:23:30 AM
Hello WxForum,

It's been a little while since I last posted. Attached are some pictures of my current Davis VP2 setup. I moved the anemometer to the roof after getting approval from my landlord in late March of this year. His request was that I make it as obscure as possible from the street, so I mounted it with a J shaped mast about half way up the incline of the back side of the roof then used some galvanized pipe I already had to extend it above the peak ridge line of the roof. The resulting height is right at 10m (33 feet), but there is a tree line just to the south. It is about 3-4 feet above the roof peak (not great, I know, but much better than it was!).

Over the last 3 months, it has measured a peak gust of 42 mph with a peak 10 min sustained speed of 17 mph so far. The prevailing wind is WNW here in southern NJ (US), which it is the most exposed to, so I am happy!
