Topic: Weather Underground—Goldstar status

It appears, under the new WU platform that the concept of “Goldstars” being awarded to pws that achieved certain WU quality standards has been dropped. For awhile, they were visible but it appears they are gone. There were some flaws in the concept but if properly administered the designation would be helpful, like the “thumbs up” red cross and checkmark are used at CWOP.

As of yesterday, May 16, 2019, the goldstar concept was being used by WU in some cases on both the old and new platforms, but apparently no longer—at least on my 3 pws. Can anybody from WU or a person in the know, confirm?

It's working for me, or at least my station currently has a gold star on both the old and new sites. For a while yesterday and a bit today the old site was down. I thought it was gone for good but at the moment it's working (other than the map).

Mark you calendar and check in 5 days (ish) and you'll probably have the star back.

There did used to be a column in "my devices" that showed a gold star but that appears to be gone (for the moment)

Yes, the lack of a Goldstar under “my devices” for quality was my assumption the concept had died. Oh well. As WU makes changes, we can only guess what the end result is going to be.

The concept of Goldstars on Weather Underground, after months of being dormant, is working somewhat, now! I have 3 pws that post to WU. In the last 30 minutes tonight, each pws has gained and then lost the Goldstar designation. Wonders never cease.
