Topic: WMR89A- software help

WMR968 recently died. Actually just the wind and rain gauges died.  Asked Oregon Scientific if the 89A worked with wunderground, they said yes, of course. Unfortunately I assumed it would work with Virtual Weather Station and it's not even listed. Anyone know of any software that supports this? In my short search I haven't found anything yet.

On a side note about Oregon Scientific, If you live outside the U.S., do not order from them! They use a third party called International Checkout for these orders. They have lots of bad reviews and rip you off with CC processing fees and pre paid duties and bad customer service, even if you ship within the states. OS charges 6.95 state to state, IC charged over 60, saying it was a processing fee for non U.S credit card along with shipping.

I used to have an OS WMR968, not the 968A however.  I also used VWS and did so for years.  I do not recall if the 968A was listed in VWS, have you tried just using the 968 in VWS?

It's the WMR 89A. I can't find any software that works.

Sorry I do not know that equipment.  Have you tried any other stations listed in VWS - e.g. wmr100, 200?

Yes. None seem to work.

According to some forums, such as Infoclimat and Cumulus, it seems Oregon Scientific uses a new transmission protocol on the WMR89 as well as a virtual USB-serial driver.
That makes it incompatible with Cumulus, Weather Display and probably all others weather software.
