Ecowitt has now published instructions on how to install the firmware update of the WS90 even with a Mac or a Linux system.
I'm impressed that Ecowitt is putting in this increased support effort.
Well done!

These instructions also apply to the update of the WS80.

I had tried this before but did not actuall update the f/w, it's great to see they made the effort to document this and presumably this is now an officially supported way to do this. I can now take my Linux Laptop out to the WS80 and do this while still on the pole (albeit swung down from height).

Hi!

As I wrote here, there is also an Android version of a tool for programming the STM32.
So far, no one has tried this with the WS80/WS90 yet - but THAT would probably be another slight increase in the update comfort. Then you would only have to go up to the mast with the smartphone and a suitable cable.

Surpassed only by the possibility of a remote update via RF, for which I at least have hope.

Just got round to updating the f/w on my WS80, used Linux and worked like a charm so yes definitely the way to go for us Linux users and I suspect Mac users will find it the same.
