Been tracking my parcel containing the replacement temp/hum sensor and today Hermes (EVRI) are reporting it has been damaged and will not be delivered! This is taking a ridiculously long time to get a replacement.

We've been talking to Ecowitt and they will be able to supply us the plugin type temperature / humidity sensors soon for out of warranty replacement. Based on their quotation these will be around £18 each when needed.

That's good to know.

I'm still waiting on Hermes (EVRI) to decide if I get my parcel or not. I am completely fed up with them as a courier company no communication at all and no way to contact them except their stupid chat bot which is worse than a chocolate teapot! You would think they might contact me to explain as they have no idea what is in the parcel and assuming the contents are still in it they could deliver it and let me assess whether it is worth having. I mean this sensor is tiny and could fit in a small jiffy bag, it would be safer in the post rather than on a courier shipment when it is with loads of other stuff and could get crushed on something! It's getting to the point where if I find a retailer uses Hermes (EVRI) I will look elsewhere because I have zero trust in them and their non-existent customer service.

No response from Ecowitt either as I let them know as soon as I found out. I guess if they have to send another one it will be another 2 weeks.

If it comes in a "chocolate teapot" please send the teapot to me, sounds like it is edible. :)

It's a common phrase here in the UK to describe something totally useless. Normally reserved at least by me to refer to a Police Community Support Officer here in the UK, it is a Police person with no Police powers!  #-o  ;)

Well yesterday I got a Certificate of Damage document from EVRI and the parcel has now been disposed of!!!! So sent this to Ecowitt and now have to wait for them to decided what to do. If I could purchase a sensor here in the UK I wold but as yet no one has them for sale. I gather Weather Spares will be getting them in the future for out of warranty supply at around £18 so well worth it to avoid the wait if only they already had them. Another one from Ecowitt could be between 7 - 14 days shipping from China!

I've just heard from Ecowitt that there is a revised plugin sensor for the WS80 anemometer which has a keyed plug/socket. This is now classed as the latest version from them to prevent incorrect insertion of the module, a picture of the plug/socket attached.

That could cause a problem as my current one is not like that. Not sure it was necessary as mine only fits in one way.

I've had a further conversation overnight with them and we will be supplied the older version in our order to cover anyone that needs them rather than the one above. I can see their logic in making the plug a more obvious keyed design, but the old one is going to take quite some force to insert incorrectly.

I am still waiting on Ecowitt for another t/h sensor to be supplied following the damage to the initial shipment. Sent another email this morning chasing it up. Not good service from the courier and no communication from Ecowitt!

Sometimes emails get answered at odd times give the +8 hours time difference from the UK. I've PM'ed you.

Yes I know but I've had no replies for some days now. I had forgotten they might be affected by a covid lockdown!

Thanks to all re subject earlier this year. Winter comes and the job I ignored may have come to haunt me. Connection of heater cable! 7 days of below average temperatures and guess what temperature and humidity failed. Interested to know if my failings have caused this.
I run ws 2550 clone ws40 ws80 all running fine till now. (Misol 433mhz).
I have ordered replacement from ecowitt. £12 not bad. Dismantling a nightmare as mentioned. My question I do have a plug onto circuit board but not the v3  shown. Also I notice fabric sleeve,  is this in transit protection as my existing one is encapsulated. Any advice welcome.
Couple of other points had 3 minor voltage drops prior to failure over 3 days is this indicative of near failure. Wind and direction and solar fine but ice had covered solar power and detector but returned having removed wind chill ice. :-P
This has deterred me from future upgrade to WS90 next year.
My rather yellowed ws60 now back in service might well stay that way. [tup]

Are you using alkaline batteries in the outdoor sensors? If so, switching to lithium might solve your problem.

Batteries all OK lithium and replaced. It looks like I am not alone. Somebody had same failure in other post yesterday. See ws80 partial failure.

Well what can I say. Ecowitt supplied sensor £12 arrived in 10 days. Noticed sock is fixed  not transit. All fitted and back online 10 out of 10 ecowitt. Absolute b****** to put back together. Think mine is v2. Very happy thought it was heading to the bin.
