Any issues with replacing WS-2902A array with WS-80 and WS40
« on: March 03, 2022, 04:42:17 PM »
I hope to donate my WS2902A with display to my 7 year old grandson.  He has a programmer father who has already taught the child math and beginner programming concepts.  I will tell him about the Ecowitt GW1100, various software available, and let him go from there.  Maybe the world will still need meteorologists in 15 years.

Back on topic, I have my GW1000, a WH5360B with display coming in from Amazon, and a WS80 coming from Ecowitt.  I am hoping for the display to give my wife her preferred weather information while I use the GW1000 with my Meteobridge software to continue sending data to CWOP and other internet weather providers.  Does anyone have any comments or suggestions for this upgrade?

Did you mean a WH536zeroB?
AFAIK, that display only shows information about rain and indoor temps.

All your components should work together if they are the same frequency and same "brand".  Don't go mixing Ecowit with Ambient (depending on what you want to do).  The GW1000 at the same frequency should read them all.
Ambient Consoles: WS-2000, WS-1900, WS-1200, WS-2902C, WS-3000-X3, WS-0900-IP(observerIP), WS-1001-WIFI
Ambient Arrays: WH65B
Ambient Sensors: WH31E(3), WH31B(2), WH32B, WH31SM(2), WH31PGW, AQIN, WH31LA(3)
Ambient Spares: WH24B(2), WH25B.
Ecowitt: HP2551BU, GW1000B(dead), GW1100B(2), GW2000B
Ecowitt Sensors: WH51, WN34BL, WN34(2), WH31, WH41, WH40

Yes, thank you!

I use the GW1000 and meteobridge to send all of my data to the internet.  I am hoping to use the new display to give the room temp and humidity for non-sleeping areas of the house while the GW1000 does most of the work with a new WS80 plus the WH40 rain gauge from the WH5360B "station".

sounds like a working plan.
If you want to have more accurate outdoor temperature readings, you might want to think of getting an Ecowitt WH32 (or WH32-EP) outsoor T/H sensor which you can place independent from the WS80 (which for better wind readings will be preference be rather high). If you register the WH32 with the GW1000, it will ignore the outdoor T/H values from the WS80 and take the WH32 values instead.

As Gyvate has mentioned the WH5360B displays its own internal temp and humidity, and the data from one rain sensor.
The temp and humidity it displays will not be transmitted anywhere as the display does not have the capability to send out anything.

I have one in my garage, just to look at when I am there, having it associated with one of my rain sensors. For my use, that works, I really didn't mean to get the unit but at the time I got that bundled with a WH40 for about the same price as a WH40 by itself.

Thanks for the points guys!  If the display shows temperature and humidity of the living room, my wife will be happy, and if the rain gauge will be available to my GW1000 along with data from the WS80 then I will be happy.  One or both grandkids learning to be meteorologists and or programmers would be icing on the cake.

Thank you!  That is a great idea.  My current array is at 30 feet so when the new array goes up I may raise it to 33 feet and place a WH32 six feet above grass.

you may also consider proper shielding for the WH32(-EP) - unless it is placed in a constanly shadowed area.
At least protection against water/rain and other debris will be needed. It's not waterproof !

My WH32-EP is placed inside a Barani MeteoShield Pro - a perfect but rather expensive solution.

Just a quick note that I ordered The WS80 sensor array from Ecowitt on March 1st.  They moved it from their warehouse in Shenzhen to the airport the next day where it stayed for several days.  Now it appears to be in US Customs with the post office awaiting its release.  Life is a wee bit more interesting without instant next day delivery gratification.
