GW1000 and WH2650 WiFi - two fraternal (and functional) twins - a comparison

<< < (3/5) > >>

Honusnap:
Hi everyone,

I'm building my house which got a veranda, and at 50m a greenhouse just for vegetables. I've seen the

Waldbeck Halley Station which is number "WTH3-Halley", if i understand correctly, i will need a Pi (maybe an arduino would be enough ?) to connect to this Waldbeck bridge through wifi and save datas... let's say on an SD card, a NAS or whatever.
Isn't the Misol : https://www.amazon.fr/dp/B07RQRGH9G/?coliid=ICYL8EEA7FFYE&colid=25H4FD7R7WQ1E&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it or some other of those clones with an SD card slot a better solution ? Yes they are more then twice the price but you get the screen and a 24h24 data loger.
The Pi will certainly use more energy (my house is off grid, so each shaved amp is welcome).

I know there are many options, but let's put it this way... i got nothing, well .. a wifi and a wired network and that i will use 8 temperature/hygrometry captors, and ho yes .. i got some old tablet... 2 or 3.
If you were in my situation, which solution will you go for ?

Thanks a lot for sharing your knowledge... !  :-P

There are many options - and all working combinations you find at https://www.wxforum.net/index.php?topic=40730.0
Misol sells its clone stations at 433 MHz only whereas in Europe 868 MHz is preferrable (less issues with EMI, longer reach ...).
Extra sensors need to be on the same frequency as the console you use, be it a WH260 (clone) or a HP2551 clone.
The station you mention you can get in Europe from either Froggit in Germany (www.froggit.de), expondo.fr etc. with 868 MHz.
Froggit has just some discount promotion going on where you can get a HP2553 station (the console you spoke about and
the top outdoor sensor array with ultrasonic wind measurement) for 270 EUR.
https://www.froggit.de/product_info.php?info=p471_hp1000se-pro-ultrasonic-wifi-internet-funk-wetterstation.html
Your "Misol" equivalent would be 225 EUR.
https://www.froggit.de/product_info.php?info=p436_hp1000se-pro-wi-fi-internet-funkwetterstation.html

You cannot process the data stored on the HP2551 console SD card directly - you will have to manually copy it on a computer and process it there.

You can also use application software like weewx or CumulusMX (CMX) where the latter has an option to backfill data from the Ecowitt cloud to where you can make your console post regularly.
This means with CMX you need not run a computer 24/7 and still get your data seamlessly (5 minute records) onto your computer.

In your situation I would propose the HP2551 station (console + Y-shape outdoor array) from Froggit (HP1000SE Pro WiFi Weather station), or if you want to have the top version, the HP2553 station (Froggit HP1000SE Pro Ultrasonic). In addition I would install CumulusMX on either a Windows, Linux or MacOS computer and use it for data collection and presentation - even a web site comes along where you can present your data (provided you have a web hosting account).
So during the day, when your computer runs, CMX gets the data directly from your station (console) in your local network. During the night, when you switch it off, you also switch off/shut down CMX. (Stand-By can be more tricky). When you startup your computer again you also start-up CMX again and it will download all the data you were missing over night and your console has posted into the Ecowitt cloud.
Pre-requisite for this option is that you configure your console to post regularly to ecowitt.net (create an account [free], register your console, activate posting).
You can also see the data at ecowitt.net from their dashboard - current and history, tables and graphics - with your internet browser.

You can also have the WH2650 solution (your picture) and can use an old Android tablet in your local network to display the data from the WH2650 (with PWT - Personal Weather Tablet https://www.wxforum.net/index.php?topic=39453.0) and still use CMX in parallel to store and present your data locally.

Thanks Gyvate for the time you used to reply with so many details, did not see Misol was on 433Mhz, thanks for poiting that.
Yea i seen the HP1000SE PRO  at 225+10€ shipping and it's one of my option.

The big advantage here of the WH2650WiFi is that i can use the availability of the data on my network .. let's say for example if i use it to control the house ventilation....
So maybe a WH2650 (99€) PLUS a console (130€ i think i've seen this price) would be the same price as the HP1000SE PRO...

Can i ... use a WH2650WiFi AND add a console for the display ? Will they all communicate properly with all sensors, i mean by that that no sensor got awareness of the console nor the WH2600... .they just send data every xx sec .. right ?

Ok i've read your "Fine Offset (FOSHK) Weather Stations i.e. consoles, sensors and clones", now about sensors, let's say i need 8 temperature... 4 ground moisture sensors...
Where are they the most affordable ?
I've found those on Misol : http://www.misolie.net/misol-868mhz-sensor-spare-part-for-wireless%C3%82%C2%A0weather%C3%82%C2%A0station-temperature-humidity-p-589.html
or maybe even this one : http://www.misolie.net/wireless-weather-station-with-5-sensors-5-channels-color-screen-data-logger-connect-to-pc-p-501.html
As it contain 5 temp/hygro captors and .. cost near the same as 5 captors at froggit. (90€)

On misol it seems the initial shippîng price is 29€.. if the parcel is big .. it goes up

- correct - a sensor is like a radio station and a console is like a radio receiver - many radio receivers can receive the signal of the radio station (same frequency) - a console does not communicate with the sensor, it only receives; and a sensor only has a one-way communication: sends

then you'd have a 3rd console (868 MHz) - the 5 WH31 T/H sensors can be received also by the HP2551/HP1000SE Pro console and the WH2650 console.
75 USD + 20% VAT (fr. TVA) =90 US = 87 EUR + shipping
or maybe even this one : http://www.misolie.net/wireless-weather-station-with-5-sensors-5-channels-color-screen-data-logger-connect-to-pc-p-501.html
5 x 8.55 USD + 20% VAT = 42.50 + 8.5 VAT = 51 USD = 48 EUR + shipping - I don't think you need a 3rd console - but as you wish.
As it contain 5 temp/hygro captors and .. cost near the same as 5 captors at froggit. (90€)

you make up your calculation regarding all sensors plus shipping - and either get everything from Froggit or from different sellers (including Ecowitt: shop.ecowitt.com)

Honusnap:
Just bought a Waldbeck Halley, 85€ (rakuten with some remaining points) and i will certainly buy captors from Ecowitt, thanks for the link .. !
I decided to use a Raspberry and Home assistant, since i got 3 android old tablet, i will use them in different space.

I'm also looking at the https://www.crowdsupply.com/nabu-casa/home-assistant-yellow Home assistant Yellow .. or will make my own Rasp/zigbee device.
