WS-2080 Not displaying wind speed...
« on: March 09, 2013, 01:38:24 PM »
It seems like I've read a few people have had the same problem. The wind speed is not displaying at all. It shows 0.0mph consistently, however, it does show the direction.

We have a dual-kit so two displays in the house and neither display it. We've changed the anemometer once and still no luck. It's spinning and it's not locked up at all.

Does anyone know any tricks or something we could be doing wrong?

Thanks for reading...

Something you can try to further pin-point the problem area.
Take an old rj-11 telephone cord with one of it's ends cut off. strip back the red and green wires.
Plug the connector end into the weather stations therm/hygro instead of the wind speed sensor (anemometer).
Tap together repeatedly the red and green wires. This will simulate the reed switch activating in the anemometer when the cups are spinning.

If you get wind readings from this test then the anemometer has the problem and the rest of the weather station components are probably fine. Things in the anemometer that could be wrong are, a faulty reed switch, internal circuit board trace/solder joint, cable connection, fallen magnet.

If you still are not seeing wind speed on the console from this test then the therm/hygro sensor that you are plugged into is at fault (connector, internal circuit trace/solder joint connection, etc.).

Hope you can try this and it helps.
