Hi, I am a new member here, but have been lurking about for years...
My ageing WS-1082 is finally wearing out. After 4 years of faithful monitoring, it has started showing signs of old age.
First the anemometer seized up, now the wind direction is consistently stuck at SE.
I repaired the little bearing under the wind cups, white lithium grease spray. Wind speed and wind chill restored.
Sooner then later, the wind direction started sticking at SE. This finally has become permanent. Along with this error: the lcd direction indicator on the display now works intermittently.
My question is this: will a new weather vane restore wind direction?
I have double check connections and replaced all batteries with new.
Is the weather vane user serviceable?
We have another cold snap on the way, so it may be awhile until I am able to get on the roof again.
