Very excited - got a 1080 for Christmas.  What do I need to know about setup, etc?

Congrats and Merry x-mas! You wouldn't happen to mean an Ambient Weather 1080 instead of Acu-rite? I can't find an Acu-rite 1080.

Here are some guidelines (http://newa.nysaes.cornell.edu/public/NEWAStationSitingGuidelines.htm) to help give you ideas for setting up. If you do mount the temp/hygro sensor out in the open as suggested you may want to look into replacing the weather shield (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003EB3GE4/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_1?pf_rd_p=486539851&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B003EAYDL0&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=0G0SB8K0YDXN6HHHTPYK) that comes with it. The supplied one is designed to be under an eave, out of the rain. Many of us on the forum have made our own and can help if you don't want to purchase one.

Welcome btw.

Well, first post and it looks like I got the name of my unit wrong.  It's a WeatherWise.  Am I even in the right forum?

this is my unit, except the box clearly says 1080 NOT 1090

The members on here that have those seem to be happy with them. Good luck getting setup.
