Weather34 download requests
« on: August 31, 2020, 01:10:52 AM »
Firstly I apologize this is long overdue but hopefully this will clarify and save you time in the long run.Out of 2093 requests since April till August 31st 32%(aprox 669 includes duplicate or multiple requests) of these have been declined for the reasons listed below.

Weather34 template https://weather34.com/homeweatherstation/ for meteobridge is a request only with a simple requirement.
1. a valid working url
2. meteobridge device and firmware

Reason Request un-answered or decline...

I do my best to go through the requests everyday (mostly 6am my time Istanbul) at worst every two or three days mostly because of weekends when im not around .

Reasons for un-answered or decline (I understand no one likes declines but as above it will save you time)
Its not personal regardless of what you may think of the declined request.
1. URL returns 404
2. URL returns nothing
3. URL returns a commercial site or online store
4. Not compatible with your Hardware
5. Not compatible with Cumulus software
6. Not Compatible with Weewx software
7. Not compatible with Weather Display software
8. No meteobridge device or firmware sent in form request
9. No URL provided or sent in form request
10. Found in Spam Box (I don't check it very often so beware and check your URL provided)
11. URL not visible in Turkey only via VPN (blocking turkey for your personal reasons I understand but I wouldn't be able to support you)

example of what ends up in spam box

Weather34 Template is 100% dependent on a meteobridge device being used , weather34 has no experience or hands on knowledge with PC or Mac based weather station software i.e Weewx,Cumulus,Weather Display this also means support would be non existent  hence weather34 template does not support anything other than meteobridge.

If you are using Weewx,Cumulus,Weather Display or some other form of software or device then I highly recommend these templates as an alternative or something to try for your enjoyment  .

1. Saratoga template https://saratoga-weather.org/wxtemplate/
2. Meteotemplate http://www.meteotemplate.com/web/index.php
3. Weewx software https://github.com/steepleian/weewx-Weather34 (variant of a weather34 design with extras)

there are numerous others but the three above are stable and rich in features and most importantly well supported by developer or community so the choice is yours .
I don't mean to be offensive or prejudice when I decline your request but as per above this will save you a lot of time and a save you a few headaches along the way.The weather34 template is built around 193 different values delivered from meteobridge , the meteobridge device is the heart(nerve center) of this template without a meteobridge its nothing and non functional.

I hope this clarifies and please I honestly say its nothing personal just I use a meteobridge in various flavors for many years and thats where my knowledge lies and I also do not want to waste your time or antagonize you with frustrations if you dont have a meteobridge device.

have a great day ...Brian

update to first post

In forthcoming version 9.34 ecowitt, ambient GW1000 etc will not be able to use this template .

This will probably irritate a few but it is what it is and Im certainly in no position to offer support for the ever
expanding range of sensors the ecowitt hardware offers . I strongly suggest use one of the following templates to meet your needs

1. Saratoga template https://saratoga-weather.org/wxtemplate/
2. Meteotemplate http://www.meteotemplate.com/web/index.php
3. Weewx software https://github.com/steepleian/weewx-Weather34 (variant of a weather34 design with extras I think weewx supports the GW1000 etc)

over the weekend I attempted to include the array of sensors the ecowitt types offer before I knew it the whole template became
incredibly congested , unbalanced and bloated . I can vision that this would just double or triple the increase in support required, with that Im not in that luxury of a position to sit here day in day out answering or dealing with configurations , the one I tested with
had 8 additional temperature sensors 1 outside and the rest in the hallway, bathroom, basement, lounge and so on to me this seemed more focused about home environment or home automation not the weather (thats my view) .Supporting the GW1000 etc I can see the demand to include support for all the sensors but as above I cant support that array of sensors in anyway and I also don't have the means i.e hardware capability in front of me.

So I am sorry but Im sticking to the original idea I had back in 2015 whilst I understand hardware options have increased over the few years but original design was based on a 12 box grid layout and now attempting to fit all those additional sensors is like trying to fit 20+  windows into a house designed for 12 ! what you end up with is a complete headache to manage. Only way forward would be to re design from the ground up to accommodate and unfortunately im not in that position time wise or commitment.

So please try some of the other templates or even some of the apps widely talked about on this forum.

So from 9.34 version onwards only Davis Hardware, Weatherflow or Oregon,Accurite when used with meteobridge.

as always there is no obligation it is better to find something that meets your requirements without being restricted.

As you can guess taking the route to an easy life :-) time for others to be creative and offer and adapt to newer hardware for me my trusted Davis VP2+ is my only source of data to work with. FWIW my Davis VP2 is coming upto two years without ever been powered down and the console recording data thats a first for me ...in Davis we trust ! :-)

I understand the premise that the ever growing Ecowitt sensors being offered is extensive and falls beyond the vision of your software and its design layout. But how about just supporting Ecowitt GW1000 with the Meteobridge and with only a standard set of sensors? The same set of sensors that you would support from Davis, Weatherflow or Oregon, Accurite. After all this standard set would utilize the very same Meteobridge variables.

good morning

i understand and i am sorry but as above post it will irritate a few but im just going to focus on what i own and many own similar or identical setup  so it makes it far more manageable from a maintainability point of view. i dont want to end up with a overwhelming overhead of support issues.spent last 8 months or more eradicating support ,confusion overhead as you well know but many dont see that side of it and the crap that comes with it when it dont do as expected regardless of whether its a template error or user error or just lack of experience.

hopefully it will encourage other enthusiasts ,developers, designers to come out of the woodwork and produce better or something that is suited to a wide range of sensors .

reference to ecowitt if was to done right with a good GUI
upto 8 additional sensors = 8 additional modules, 8 additional charts
possibly 2 air quality modules = 2 additional charts

then providing setup configuration where module positioning and names (location of sensor)

thats only what im aware of the brand ecowitt and alike probably has more and thats a hefty lot of
additional code and maintenance on top of what is already supported.

only additional future planned is support the new Davis air quality sensor as already the template caters for air quality from purple air, luftdaten, diy across local network.

as before taking the easy life  [tup]..brian

I'm looking forward to running Weather34 on my brand new empty website, loganvilleweather.com.
I'm planning to only run Weather34 on the site and run it in the root directory.

I too am quite pleased with my choices for my new station, a Davis 6163 Vantage Pro2 Plus and a Meteobridge Pro Red. Everything works flawlessly.

I applied for a Weather34 download password a few days ago and I'm looking forward to getting it and getting Weather34 set up!

Got the download!
No password was required for the download, so I suppose the password is needed to unlock the zip file.
Thank you!

good morning

im not sure how you got it without a password sure you downloaded full template not update file ? there are two download links one password protected and other is the simple update file which unprotected.

both zip files don’t require a password to unzip.
by default the setup has no password you choose one when first entering and saving your setup credentials.

i apologize for delays in responding but timezone difference will be the cause as i only generally spend 30 minutes to an hour early in the morning my time (istanbul) .however as above i can pass you onto to someone in your timezone if you need help for anything..brian

OK. My mistake. You're right, it was the update file I had first downloaded with no password.
Now I have the correct download that required the password.

I've got everything loaded on my website but now I'm having a problem with the site itself.
It seems that there was a recent previous owner of loganvilleweather.com and that is causing a bunch of problems.
This is taking some time to get straightened out.  ](*,)

I've got Weather34 loaded in the Console directory.
I thought I would run a general full-featured site on the root and my console Weather34 in the console subdirectory just for my use.
The root app is working only some of the time and Weather34 isn't recognized at all. Nothing but 404 file not found errors. Frustrating.

ok gary

you need to provide the actual path of what you have installed to.  if i goto your url and use /console  it doesnt do anything . https://loganvilleweather.com/console

so what is the full path to where you have it installed

this is also critical for meteobridge itself has that needs to know where you have it installed .

follow the guide https://weather34.com/homeweatherstation/weather34-standalone.html

or alternatively pm your ftp upload login for your domain i can really see what is going on then but leave that for you to decide.brian

Here's what's frustrating.
I have a simple file, "home.html" installed in the root and also installed in \console.
"http://loganvilleweather.com/home.html" will only work less than 5% of the time.
"http://loganvilleweather.com/console/home.html" never works and always gives file not found.
those two url's should absolutely work as I'm only trying to run a simple demo html supplied by GoDaddy and the file absolutely works.
GoDaddy support has told me that they believe there is a DNS problem that will take time to propagate and work out because the site was previously owned.

that URL is no simple file.  for me it is redirecting to https://loganvilleweather.com/loganvilleweather.com/home.html   ????????

I suggest you look at the contents of that file, and or look at your htaccess file too for any redirects.

Get back to GoDaddy.

You have a 'secure' site and the certificates are invalid.
Imagine what you will KNOW tomorrow !

Yes, sometimes I get that doubled URL but not often. Sometimes file not found 404 error.  The site does not have a security certificate added, but sometimes it thinks it does. The "\console" directory is never recognized as even being there. The site is simply acting flat out weird. It has to be the problem of previous ownership still being propagated.  I'll wait and see if DNS sorts it out.
