From the article... "On a dark, stormy June 11th, Krone was busy clearing up her children’s breakfast when she picked up a pan and heard two loud booms. A bright streak of electricity shot down from the light fixture above her. It bounced off the pan, plunged into her chest and shot out her little toe." http://www.wfaa.com/sharedcontent/dws/wfaa/latestnews/stories/wfaa090707_lj_lightning.1a0bdb37.html

Another amazing lightning story.  One thing is for sure, as long as there is lightning, people are going to get struck.  Lightning has the ability to reach out and touch us "almost" anywhere.  It is scary but we can minimize our chances of getting fried.

So was this house struck three different times in a five-minute span without catching on fire?

I think I would have already moved into a hole in the ground.

I emailed that question to the reporter. Here's the response I got:

I don't think anybody know. The fire chief said that's possible. It's also possible there was just one strike that messed up the electrical wiring, causing successive shocks.

It's going to take more than bad wiring to shoot lightning from ceiling fixtures.  There had to be a blown transformer or multiple strikes involved.

This story appears to be making the rounds along with the story of the man struck while disconnecting his cable modem to protect it from the lightning.  #-o
