REL Offset 1.0 is for the GW1000 not the WS-2000.

The WS-2000 in the Calibration screen shows it differently. On the WS-2000 you see both the Relative and the Absolute pressures in the Calibration screen not offsets. So you look at the pressure numbers and you adjust Relative to be exactly 1 hPa greater than Absolute. BUT you have to first go to the Setup screen and change your units from showing inHg to instead show you hPa.

When you say (adjust) you mean hit the arrow up once on the relative? Then adjust the REL Barometer to match the METER near me? For example if fort lauderdale is at 29.99 inches Hg (1015.7 mb) [Sea level pressure: 1015.8 mb] what number am i matching the 29.99hg? I see your advising me to change to hpa but in the METAR its in Hg and mb.

No, it means first look at the Absolute... let's suppose Absolute says it is 1007.6 hPa. Then you go to Relative and adjust it up so that it reads exactly 1 hPa greater than the Absolute shown value. So you change Relative to be 1008.6 hPa because that is 1 hPa greater than what Absolute is showing.

Forget the airport METAR for now. That is step 2.  We are still at Step 1 which is to set your Offset for your elevation.

mb = hPa
They are the same thing.

Omg! Now after you actually showed me with numbers i get it. Question: i can make this change on the ws2000 console now even though the gw1000 arrives next week right?  I get home around 1230 this afternoon hopefully you are around. I will post screen shots after i make the change then we can move on to step 2 as you suggested. Hopefully you can help me when the gw1000 arrives next thurs.

Thanks so much!!

The WS-2000 and the GW1000 each have their own barometric sensor. They each need to be dealt with separately. What you do now on the WS-2000 has no effect on the GW1000. The WS-2000 and the GW1000 will not even know about the existence of each other. The WS-2000 and the GW1000 are consoles that just receive weather data from your sensors. With the exception that the external indoor temperature /humidity and barometric sensor that the WS-2000 uses is not seen by the GW1000 and therefore not used by the GW1000, because the GW1000 has its own indoor temperature / humidity and barometric sensor.

Got it! So two different all together. Lets first get through step 1 this afternoon with the ws2000.  I will post here the screen shots after i make the change so then after we could move on to step 2.

After switching over to hPa on the console it stays that way?

Yes it stays. But after calibration you can switch it back to inHg if that is what you prefer and all the calibration done under hPa units carries over. So you can easily switch back and forth any time you want without it messing anything up.

Ok so I think I just completed the first step how does this look? Let me know. Hopefully it’s good so we can move on to step 2. All I did was press arrow up once in the Relative. Just noticed My REL on my console is fluctuating now often back and forth. What’s going on?

Yes barometric pressure fluctuates constantly during the day, that is normal and it has a sort of smooth wave pattern.

Okay Relative Offset looks good from your screenshot. Now Step 2 is to calibrate with METAR...

Checking the METAR right now the Sea Level Pressure is 1014.5 mb which is the same as 1014.5 hPa.
https://aviationweather.gov/metar/data?ids=KFXE&format=decoded&date=&hours=0

You now compare that METAR value with your Relative Pressure shown now.
I can't see your Relative pressure so you'll have to determine how much different it is. Just make a mental note of the difference.

Okay now with that mental note of the difference you have to adjust the Absolute value by that amount. Because any amount that you now adjust Absolute will cause the Relative to change by that same amount. Ultimately what you are looking to accomplish is to make Relative show the same value as the Airport METAR....but you are not allowed to change the Relative directly...you must adjust the Absolute. This works because you now know that Absolute and Relative will always be 1 hPa different from each other....that difference will always be there. This is why you must never ever touch the Relative directly anymore.

By the way the best time to check the METAR is at the top of the hour. It will be most accurate then because it gets updated around :53 to :57 minute mark of each hour. So at the top of the hour you know it is a recent reading of the barometer.

Just added manually now it matches Fort Lauderdale perfect.
