2 web cams on one computer
« on: October 10, 2007, 01:43:22 PM »
I think I've asked this before but forgot one small detail. I am trying to figure out a way to run more than one usb camera on the same computer. I know Webcam XP will do what I want, question is, can I run two of the same kind of cam, as in 2 Logitech Fusion or a Fusion and Quick Cam 4000. All the cams are Logitech and I know the pc using two different cam programs (FreeWCAM & ConquerCam) won't run 2 Logitech cams at the same time because they both use the same drivers. Anyone know a way around this? Yes I'm trying to be cheap and not get another non-Logitech webcam. The 3 I have is more than enough.

I found a soultion to my own question. Plug in a usb mini hub and run the other camera through it. The usb port runs the hub and the hub runs the camera. Sometimes the easiest answer is the right one.

I'm running 2 Logitech 4000 webcams to my weather computer using Imagesalsa. Each camera goes to a different USB port. I'm not sure why you need a mini hub.
