Monster Anvil

Trying something different - Instead of posting photos I am creating a photo/video album that will preview each picture, instead of making a very long/large post.

This anvil was nearly 180° of sky filled wonder. 
All my neighbors were out in there backyards iPhones in hand trying to take pictures of this beauty.
It was truly awe inspiring almost "Independence Day" material...

I saw that one from up here in Mesa Yesterday and while not nearly as impressive as your view it still made me think "If only I had my camera and tripod"...

Wow - all the way from Mesa - that's about ~100 miles.  It went right over us and produced quite the lightning storm.  Rain missed us specifically.  You know how it goes here in Arizona - raining and want it to stop, step two feet forward.

Yeah it's not uncommon for me to be able to see storm formation down your way even with the higher humidity during the monsoon.  And yes I know how fickle the rain can be - left home to go visit a friend last night and it was coming down pretty good; went three miles down to the loop 202 and folks were pulling to the side because it was just dumping, saw a couple of spun-out vehicles in the opposite lanes then went a couple miles more and it was dry and you could see 30+ miles...  :?  Only in the desert  :-)

Yesterday, the NWS-Tucson website reported that anvil had an altitude height of 40,000 feet!
