Here in Nebraska it is fairly easy to understand.  The largest local retailer bought out competitors and built new stations while owning the distribution apparatus.  This enabled him/them to corner the market and pass on to everyone what they demanded as a 'fair' price while they expanded their reign.  Those who control wholesale distribution also control the price.  Hence the lockstep price-fixing at the pump.

In Hastings, NE I put in 10 gal at $3.97 to get me back to cheaper gas in KS. I cut it a bit close and drove the last 16 miles with no AC and at 65MPH, when I rolled into Love's at McPherson my trip computer said 0 miles to empty, but I got a bonus, the price had dropped to $3.19. On down to home in TX it was still in the high $3.40's or higher. This was a family reunion and even at "Go Brandon" gas prices it was worth it to see family.

Then I assume you had the windows down? If so, it's been pretty much proved that having AC on vs no AC and windows down actually consumes more fuel due to drag. Stay cool brother!

In Stillwater, the lowest price is now $3.22 for E10.  Down from $3.24.  Good to see price of oil drop to the upper 80s today, Thursday.

Oklahoma may be the first state where gas has fallen below $3 a gallon. In Yukon, a west side suburb of OKC, gas is $2.97 at OnCue Express and $2.99 at 7/11. Maybe they are in a price war.

In Stillwater, the lowest price has dropped again, now $3.13 by the Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market.  Second lowest is $3.15 at Murphy's, both E10. 7/11 is coming soon to Stillwater with a new station currently under construction.  Interestingly enough, its address will be 711 N. Main.

That's great to hear that gas is below $3.
Hopefully in time the rest of the country will be there.

Yeah, that situation in Ukraine has Europe in a bad place.

Situation in Ukraine has been bad for over 8  years now. It's political virtue signalling that has caused this self inflicted crisis in EU and in US.
Add Germany closing it's nuclear PP's and refusing to pay for the gas... and here we are.

WOW? - we broke the $3 in Marble Falls today at $2.99 at a couple of stations. Who would have guessed a few months ago this was exciting?
