  • Hi there!

I have had my first davis weather station for about 12 years now.
But for some strange reason i seen a used one go up for sale and bought it. Now i have both station going.

I think its neat that they both are in the same yard but show different temps.

Never miss a good deal :D
As bushman used to say "A man with one watch knows what time it is; a man with two watches is never quite sure."

Enjoy,

If you want a chuckle, I just closed on a piece of land in another state a few weeks ago.  Instead of looking to move one of my existing PWS stations, I'm in all seriousness shopping for a new one to deploy at the new lot.....  #-o

I have 3 VP2s in the same yard about 20 feet apart so don’t feel bad or crazy. Yes, they frequently show different readings but that is the nature of the beast. I do have but one anemometer so that reading is always the same by all 3 stations. Rainfall varies because of trees and whether the spoon tipper is used vs. the see-saw tipper. I find the “new” spoon tipper less accurate than the old see-saw tipper which I find strange—and both spoon tippers that I use have been replaced — with supposedly better mechanisms, so I tried!

And I do also have two CoCoRaHS rain gauges! They rarely differ in measurement.

Yes, my wife thinks I am crazy, but…..

Davis VP2 with SHT31 (3 complete VP2 systems—2 with a daytime fan and 1 that has a 24 hour fan); CWOP--CW5020, FW3075 and FW4350; WU--KILWHEAT17, KILWHEAT36 and KILWHEAT39; WeatherCloud.net; CoCoRaHS--IL-DP-132; and Weatherlink 2.0

Two VP2's and a VP1. The 1 is beside the Stratus and I use it to do long term calibration of overhauled tippers. Only the 2's have wind. And if I can get through building a front porch there will be a nice permanent pole installed in back yard for most ideal Temp/Hum location. That will become my primary reported station. I have another used purchase on the way so may as well leave the unit that is currently reporting, where it is. Or it will get put in a location that is interesting to compare rainfall across my property. Not that it is acreage or anything, but when you see the sheets of rain you wonder if there are spots that get more.

There is the ideal data reporting location and there is also "What is it like on my patio right now?"
