On second thought I think I'll wait till they get the bugs fixed. Most of the reviews say the app is pretty bad in it's current state. Almost sounds like Alpha instead of Beta.
When they get it cleaned up I'll try again.

No decimals.

Oh boy! Here we go again.  SMH   #-o   ](*,)
It is obvious, with such a small screen decimals take up too much room, but the colors, and no spiders. It's a beta....... sigh

I might be missing something here . . .
But I am still using the "current release" 5.10.1 and that doesn't have (nor do I recall having ever seen) decimal places. - at least in a metric display

I do not believe there were any decimals. Decimals were only on the web version, and they disappeared for months (lots of comments about this).

exactly . . . so I'm not sure why it has even popped up as a topic in this thread.
We're not losing something that wasn't there in the first place.

It is missing a status bar, but it is a beta and updating is easy, just a swipe. I don't know why some are getting ads, but I am not. If you play with it a while, just poke and prod there are a lot of functions.

The regular wu app doesn't convert the inches precip to mm. It shows 0.03", then if mm is selected it shows 0.03 mm. Did they fix that in the Beta?

I think it is a valid topic because WU should have learned how valuable tenths are especially in regards to temperature. They should have learned that lesson from the design of the new website and its original omission which caused quite a stir. The fact that it hasn't ever been something the mobile has had is all the very reason why at the time of a redesign that this should be something to have improved on. It is also a much requested feature for the mobile app. I have had it pegged as a requested mobile improvement since I created the WU Trello issue tracker:

I'm not part of the beta but I do see this new version. Noticed that they removed the free Smart Forecasts feature and have locked it behind a monthly/yearly subscription. I've also noticed there's no way to log in to use your ad-free subscription even though they are still happy to collect existing ones via the Play Store.

Note that I use a DNS based adblock, so I see placeholder ads instead of real ads.

Yeah, I won't pay for the app. I give them data and I go to great lengths to make sure I can be as accurate as possible for the general public.

I reached out to their support desk regarding signing in as an ad-free PWS user and was told the subscription to the app will henceforth be separate from the website.  There are no plans to offer perks to PWS users on the app.

As an inspiration in design: I do really like the look and feel of the weather App  "weawow".

And as an commercial inspiration: "weawow" is free!

FWIW, I went back to the last version of the Android WU App before this redesign, and then disconnected it from the Play Store so it won't update.  I'll keep using that until they fix the redesign or I switch to some other app.

Today the ap updated and now shows ads. Since the release, it had not. I sent a review to WU stating because there is no way to sign into the ap I can not disable ads and will not pay to do so because I am sending data to WU and have a free account.  See what happens.

EDIT: clarity

This app sucks now. I wish other sites did rapid fire, because that is about all WU is good for.

You do have the option to create your own rapid fire. You just need your own website. Plenty of non techie people doing just that with the help of several ready-made templates.

I'm using 5.10.1 and it does fhe conversion properly i.e..0.18"= 4.57mm  and uses decimals. It also allows you to choose different units for different things I have wind speed in knots, rain in inches, temp in deg C. I can also edit the tiles, choose a PWS as my default station see my webcam, it's got a widget, 9 day forecast, reasonable map and a customisable widget.it loads quick and is clear and easy to read.
I tried the new app and pretty much all of the above are awol, don't like the layout or the graphics, as far as I'm concerned they have killed what was one of (if not the) best android weather app.
Fortunately I have backups of my apps and was able to roll it back. Unless there's a pretty drastic improvement in the new app I'll be looking for something else when 5.10.1 stops working. I can post screenshots of 5.10.1 if anyone is interested.

One shows 0.03", the other shows 0.03 mm.  Am I doing something wrong then?

No rain here so can't show today's total, but if you look at the forecast, the conversion is correct.
All I am doing is changing the rainfall units in settings, I've no idea why yours is doing that.

My forcasts convert properly like yours.  It's the individual stations that do not.

These screenshots are of my own individual station, as you can see total rain converts correctly.

The new WU gives us things that they think are important not what we think is important. It has been this way since the "CHANGE" was implemented. It is the new WU WOO HOO!

I deleted the WU app after years of use.  Not because of the ads forced on PWS data contributors, not because of the cartoonish look, but because the 'scientific discussion' link is gone and it won't even show predicted rain amounts.  It'll show me that there's a 30% chance of rain two days from now, and a ridiculously detailed and wrong forecast of wind speed and direction for the next week, but nowhere will it show me that that 30% chance of rain is predicted to be 0.05" or is it it 3"? Wish I hadn't installed the update.  Oh well.

I have a copy of the 5.10.1 apk (last good version before the update) I could send you it, if you want ? At the moment it's still working fine.

My phone still has 5.10.1 and the main offering on the Google Play store page is still 5.10.1. You have to choose the beta from the Play store app to get it. In the store app next to the beta "Join" link is a "Learn more" link that takes you to page that includes instructions for leaving the beta and getting the normal version back.
