A.S. Richards Anemometers

Has anyone had any experience with A.S. Richards anemometers, good or bad? Their heated version has my interest  https://asrichards.com/c5h-series-heated-anemometer/

No personal experience, but they are the top of the line and you would not be dissapointed.  Check out Kriwan too. There are several companies that make ultra-professional high-precision wind sensors and other weather sensors far above what most of us here use, but I know a few members here have this level of equipment.  Make sure whatever you pick will be compatible with whatever datalogger/interface setup you’ll be using.

Thanks for all the information! I was thinking about interfacing with a Davis universal anemometer kit. The Richardson should work as it outputs a sine wave. Not sure about the Young ultrasonic though. Unfortunately, I contacted Richardson over a week ago about interest in their anemometers and have not heard a peep.

The Davis "Universal Anemometer Kit" will work with the R.M. Young Alpine model:

It's not heated but has an ice resistant coating and has been deployed in very cold/harsh environments. Info sheet:

Edit: Richards is right up there with Vaisala in my opinion. Good products but can be a bit difficult to deal with for single item or even small orders. I generally try to steer people towards either R.M. Young or Texas Electronics. Both have excellent products and have excellent customer service. For specialty wind sensors, Young is the way to go in my opinion.

Unfortunately, the Universal Anemometer Interface(UAI) 6336 was discontinued some time ago. They seem to be pretty scarce now.

The Anemometer Transmitter Kit 6330 is still commonly available. You need both to interface a RM Young to a Davis. (I have done this some time back)

Actually any of the Davis SIM boxes will be able to serve as an Anemometer Transmitter. The difference was in how it was kitted up and the label. The "Anemometer Transmitter" for my Young was originally a Temp station that got the solar door upgrade.

I thought that there was some effort to make a clone UAI, but I am not sure about that.
