Web Cam for live streaming to web page recommendation
« on: July 02, 2019, 10:22:07 AM »
Hello everyome

I finally have my weather station up and running.  I would like to add a web cam but I want to live stream to my web page.  Can anyone recommend a camera that can do this.

I prefer to have a solar powered camera...

Tom

Is a combination of both, Camera and software. I know hikvision works just fine with IPTimelapse and ImageSALSA.

so, does this software need to be installed on a  PC?  or is it in the camera?   I tried the pc rendering to youtube , and it works. BUT it uses about %50 of my PC resources and after a few days the power supply was making my desk and office hot!     :?  so i shut it down

I have a camera ( AMCREST IP2M-843EW )    and you can view it here   98.102.237.158   public/publicView   ( capitol V )    but It always asks for the u/p and amcrest tells me there is no way around it ...  I am hoping to post enough that someone will find a way to create a URL that camera likes , or suggest a new camera that I can make work

With https that requires accepting risk of no ssl certificate:
https://public:publicView@98.102.237.158/cgi-bin/mjpg/video.cgi?&subtype=1

or without https:
http://public:publicView@98.102.237.158/cgi-bin/mjpg/video.cgi?&subtype=1

Source: https://s3.amazonaws.com/amcrest-files/Amcrest+HTTP+API+3.2017.pdf
(see page 17 as printed or page 19 as pdf viewer indicates)
Document is titled Amcrest HTTP Protocol API Specifications

You can also look at the document for RTSP stream format.

you will have to do some port forwarding on your router for this to work correctly

once you set this up
IP address and the port number should allow you to see live stream
no u/p

hope this helps

5.4.2.7. Multicast
Multicast is a feature that enables the camera to broadcast its live view to multiple computers on the same network. Below is a screenshot of the multicast screen:
Below is an explanation of the fields in the Multicast settings screen:
• Enable: This checkbox allows the user to enable Multicast functionality.
• Multicast Address: This field allows the user to enter a multicast address.
• Port: This field allows the user to enter a multicast port.
To reset to default settings, click the Reset Defaults button. To refresh the page, click the Refresh button. To save the settings, click the Save button.
5.4.2.8. QoS
