Sept 8th, 1966.....The Start of a Long Voyage
« on: September 08, 2023, 06:38:53 AM »
On September 8th, 1966... The revolutionary TV series Star Trek premiered on TV launching a voyage that has lasted over 5 decades. While two pilots were shown in 1964 (The Cage) and 1965 (Where No Man Has Gone Before) the series didn't hit the airwaves until 1966. Lucille Ball owner of Desilu Studios was instrumental in getting Star Trek on the air.

Did you know that Captain Kirk is so old.... that he flew the Enterprise 20 light years with the left turn signal on....

A school kid was asked what's the oldest body in the universe.... they answered Captain Kirk ( really happened but can't remember the exact details)

Where does Captain Kirk exercise ?.... He's Dead Gymn....

It didn't air here in the UK until about 1969 and I used to watch it from about then. I was working by then and used to try to get home on time the evenings it was on TV.

For those unaware, the remasters of this series is very good. They added some CGI scenes to complement the original format, but not overly so, mostly space shots. Matter of fact, when I watch, it's only the redo's.  I have no doubt over the years I've seen every episode dozens of times. =D>
