Nominations for Featured WX Website Spring '07 now open
« on: June 07, 2007, 11:19:45 PM »
It's time to start the search for the WXForum.net Featured Weather Website for Spring 2007, so please post your nominations (with a short description about your nominee) in this thread.

Gary's guidance Quote:
Quote
Please list your nominations in this thread - it certainly can't hurt for you to describe why you think your nomination is deserving of this honor.

Don't forget that it is perfectly OK to nominate someone who has been nominated in the past but was not selected! We've had some very deserving nominees, and close runoffs!

Some criteria to consider when making nominations:

The visual attractiveness of the site
Ease of navigation
Quality and quantity of useful or interesting information
Educational value
Distinctiveness

While not a hard and fast rule, sites that only use the unmodified default web page template that comes with the software, while absolutely useful and functional, may not cross into that next level to warrant featuring in this manner. Please try to address these areas while nominating a site.

We'll run the nominations through Thursday, 21-June-2007, then start a new thread for polling on Friday, 22-June-2007. The polling will run through Thursday, 5-July-2007.

Let the nominations begin!

Best regards,
Chris

I will nominate Emmett's RivercityWeather.net
http://www.rivercityweather.net/
An outstanding site in my opinion. I like his use of mouse over comparing different radar products using GR3.
Live lightning, meso, and local conditions to name a few a few.
Very easy to navigate with lots of educational info also.
Maybe this time Emmett.

I'll nominate www.capitolaweather.net. I like it for its clean, clutter-free design, easy navigation and simple page layout. A real class site.

I've just heard from Ken at CapitolaWeather.net and he was honored, but must regretfully decline the nomination.  He does thank you for the idea and for the praise regarding his www.capitolaweather.net website.  Ken has been pulled away from doing weather-related stuff over the last year as other circumstances have occupied much of his time.

The nominations close next Thursday, 21-June, so let's have some more nominees.  Right now, Emmett's RivercityWeather.net ( http://www.rivercityweather.net/ ) is the only nominee.

Best regards,
(Saratoga) Ken

Ah, what the heck. I don't plan on being the selected "Spring 07" site but there needs to be some competition!

This is my site.

I'd like to renominate PSJohn's http://www.desertweather.com. John has done a lot of work on his site, and his clean design still makes me want to spiff up my weather site.

His site has consistent easy-to-use navigation, AJAX for swift updates, and I really like the innovative way he's using VWS's graphs and included Weather Display outputs as well.

John has also been a valuable member of the Southwestern Weather Network. He was the 10th member site to join the SWN, and take an active part in growing that regional network.

If you haven't checked out DesertWeather lately, give it a look.
