Making any headway Chief-David with your UPS issue(s)?  It would be interesting to hear what you find out.

good afternoon Dan

I bought a new power supply. It is a 45 minute version-the software says it is supposed to last 38 minutes. Didn't have time
to test it out this week.

Hopefully then I can single out  electricity or network  or  computer just shutting off on its own.

I have had two events this week.

1. Computer went off at approx 3am Monday Morning.   That looks like a computer/network issue. No evidence of electrical outage.

2. Power went off at 4:17 Wednesday morning.  New battery backup worked like a charm!!!! Power was off for a few seconds and came back on.  I should have installed the software long ago.

I could always tell when and how long my power was off. I have a document stamp in my class that my kids time stamp their assignments when they hand them in. Like time stamping a timecard at work. (you only get paid for what you work) The digital clock was not correct but the internal stamping time was near ok. Today it was off for just a few seconds.

SO, the old power supply is bad.  The new one will last for at least 20 minutes-I tested it.
There is still a network issue that causes the computer to log off.

Power supply issue fixed.

My computer still logs me off once in a while. About once a week. I have not had a report since Thursday.

So-it is a computer issue.

1. Tech person said it could be building up errors and makes it log out. So the solution was to log off and restart the computer once a week. That does not help when vacations are two weeks long.

Would uninstalling and reinstalling Weatherlink help?

WL 5.9.2

Does anyone have a way to auto log into Novell-system will not allow any programs to start unless Novell is logged in. (including teamviewer)

Assuming you are using the latest beta of WL...  WL is not the source of the issue IMHO.  But try this:  http://www.novell.com/coolsolutions/tools/14071.html  assuming your security folks alllow it

I use to have my computer set to auto login to my Novell network, that was some years ago and I haven't tried it since. Does the computer boot up to the login screen?

One thing you could do is edit the autoexec.bat, they're probably loading the client from there. You could create a new batch file that loads all the weather stuff and then call the new batch file from the autoexec.bat file before the client is loaded. I'm assuming that if you could do that, you don't need to be logged in for any other reason.
And then of course, they might be doing something entirely different. I stopped using Novell back when we had XP machines so I don't know how they're doing it now.

We don't get a lot of access to anything other that what they want us to have. They don't want those who can't
screwing up anything. Very understandable. It is amazing how bad some peoples understanding of computers can be.

But-programming is not in my box of tricks.

Did not work.. Sad They have us pretty locked down.  No programs start until you are logged in. Auto logins also-their words, not mine.

Might just have to live with it.  Teamviewer can't even get access.

I'm surprised Teamviewer  could not  get through.  Did it install correctly?

I am totally shocked right now.

My weather computer went down at 1:52 today.  I was on the road to see my parents. Didn't know-couldn't do anything about it.

I was able to

a. use teamviewer to log in the computer- didn't think I could be able to do that
b. start WL
C. DO IT ALL ON A 56K CONNECTION RUNNING 28.8. (SlowModem, I sympathize. This is unbearable.)

Very happy this worked!

Happy weekend all-see you Monday
