Trying to config VVP.  When I go into communication to connect the VP2, I get an error message:  'VPconsole connection error: Device already open'

I set the same comm port I use to connect the VP2 to VWS, comm port 4.

Any ideas on where to go from here?
Thx

Did you reset VWS to a new port?

Merlinwx,
My computer skills are less than non-existent but - Turn off All programs except Virtual VP, then follow the instruction manual exactly and it will work. I've done it a couple of times and have no idea what I did but it worked. PM me if you still have problems.

Thx George.  Where did you find an instruction manual?  Are you referring to the one page pdf files on the Softwx download page?  If so, they are next to useless.  I've got he VP2 console talking to VVP but now I can't figure out how to get VVP to connect to the other apps...VPLive, VWS, Weatherlink, etc.  Jez, looks like you have to be a programmer to make this stuff work.

I am not a programmer and not an expert that's for sure, but I did what George suggested, slow and 1 step at a time, and got it working (if I recall had to set some settings in WL with the suggested port numbers, some trial and error and wondering if it will ever work; a bit more patience and got it to work and now continues effortless).

Yep, have to open each program's communications settings and reset them to the new ports provided by Virtual VP.

George

I also have that in my C:\Program Files\VirtualVP directory.  It's 29 pages and dated April 2006.  Since some things have changed since, maybe Steve is no longer making the extended version available for some reason.  Think

Merlin,

I temporarily uploaded the old extended guide to my website so you could download it.  It goes into much more detail how it works but keep in mind it is and old version so there are differences to the current version.   Wink

You can download it here: http://www.fairfieldcountyweather.com/PDFfiles/VirtualVP2006UserGuide.pdf

Yes, that's the problem...all the little nuances they don't mention in the instructions.   I know the sw is a good product but a few more minutes developing some quality user instructions would sure save folks many hours of trial and error work making the product run.

No, all I have is the 2 page illustrated instructions pdf that is offered on the download page.

Mark, thanks for the 2006 version; its dated but gives a bit better picture of how the interfaces work.

I just found this thread after getting my trial copy of VirtualVP to run,  Brick wall  YAY!

This link should be a "sticky" for others installing this great little program!:
http://www.fairfieldcountyweather.com/PDFfiles/VirtualVP2006UserGuide.pdf

Everything makes a lot more sense now, seeing the overall picture how the program operates, instead of just going by the "help" visuals in the quick-start guide. Even so, I did eventually figure it out, though.

Registration gladly purchased!
