All this started so simple; I wanted a simple but effective system, but naturally I've gotten information overload. I'm looking for a wireless system and mainly measures rain (accurately) and temps. Anything else is a bonus. I'm not sure I would hook to a computer, but I have both a PC and Mac (preferred). My budget is $200 or less.

Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome to the forum!!  I would go for one of the Lacrosse stations, or a Honeywell station is good for the price you want to pay. I started with a Lacrosse 2315 and it served well. For a bit more you can get an Oregon Scientific WMR 968.  Good luck.  Let us know how things go.

I've got a WMR100 for one of my stations.  Overall I'm quite satisfied with it.  The cost was reasonable.  I'd get something with more than the minimum capabilities.  You will always want more!  I chose the Oregon Scientific because of the ability to add other sensors.  I needed the ability to measure indoor temps in a couple of places and OS offered the best solution for me.  Originally I had problems receiving some of the sensors, but I put an external antenna on it and all is well today.  Details are available on this forum under Oregon Scientific Hardware.  All in all for me it was the right choice and fit my budget.  If I didn't have the need for multiple indoor sensors and had more bucks I might have gone the Davis route.  But that's out of my price range at the moment.  Ya do the best you can with what you have!

Also along with these good suggestions,  http://www.ambientweather.com/amws2080.html  would be another option. Several members on this forum are using this station with good results. You would need to order an upgraded radiation shield though but you'd still be under budget doing so.

If you can increase your budget some, about $260 will get you a Davis Vantage Vue station! A great all around station that will give all you want & then some!!
