So I have gone through a night with the new WS2812 and the rain data looks reasonable compared with all the other "nearby" stations.

At first I was a little worried because the first tip wasn't displayed on the console, in last 1h, 24h, or total sections, but it was displayed in Heavy Weather, only in the total, and WUHU, everywhere. Starting with the second tip everything lined up and displayed as expected.

I think I figured out the issue, in that it is a rounding thing in the console. If I switched it to mm instead of inches it displayed 0.2mm. Which translates to 0.00787401575". The console obviously rounds down, where WUHU use normal human rounding and displayed 0.01".

From a brief observation it looks like tips measure 0.2 or 0.3mm each. The manual states 0.1mm resolution, but I suspect that is a typo as it also states 0.01" resolution which would be 0.254mm. (That probably explains the 0.2/0.3mm increments.)

I personally prefer the look of the WS2810 console, the WS2812 is bigger, and the extra space is just a dark colored border around the outside. (Of course I prefer the rain actually measuring correctly more than I like the look of the WS2810.)

I hope that La Crosse makes it right for everyone with a faulty WS2810/WS2811. (I still have to send my WS2810 in and wait for the WS2812 in return, which I will either give away as a gift or keep as spare parts.)
