Hello.

I use a Davis VPII at work and am fairly familiar with WeatherLink.  I have no experience with any other weather software.  I am looking at getting an Ambient WS-2080 for home use.  Ed at Ambient has said that Cumulus and EasyWeather both work with this unit.  He said VWS would not and there are no plans to make it compatible in the future.

I would like to hear how people feel about Cumulus and Easy Weather and whether  Very Happy (no pun intended) any other software will work with the WS-2080.

Easy weather is not a software to transmit data to sites like wunderground.  Easy weather is functional but a bit crude.

Cumulus works very well, with good graphics that are much better than easy weather and transmits data to sites like wunderground including rapidFire.  Excellent support on the forum.  It is easy to use and Steve the owner is always pressing ahead with improvements.  It is very stable.  Well worth using.

It is shown as free but if you like it make a donation if you can.

Can't speak to Easy Weather but there is very strong support on the Cumulus forum, including for the Ambient.  Cumulus has been a godsent so that even someone with no previous knowledge, like me, can get a weather website.

You are going to like the ws 2080.

Here is what I suggest when you get it.  Go to Lowes or a hardware store and buy one of those green-steel fence post for a couple of bucks you drive in the ground.  Assemble your station and attach it to the post.  Now you can move it around the yard till you find a good spot.  Then you can build something better.

Put it where you can see it first so you see it working.

Remember in Cumulus station setup check the FineOffset which is the same as yours just a different logo.  Most of the people on Cumulus Forum are from across the pond and lots of good old Aussies.  Nice people.

I only started using my WS-2080 about 3 months ago and like it. The only FREE software I found and liked is the Culumus.

I am trying to get the net side figured out without creating or changing my website. I have little web page talent - Years ago I did www.weather.alcollier.com for my wife who need it at her w ork at the time - and it has never gone away.

If I gather from other posts here can I use weather undergound without having to use a web page - is that right?

Yes you can upload your weather data to Weather Underground and view your data there without a web page if that's what you're asking. If you mean can use WeatherUndergroundHeavyweatherUploader (WUHU) to upload your data without having to use a web page like with Cumulus, yes to that also.

Welcome to the forum.

Actually, Cumulus is not free.  It is considered donationware.  If it is really that good for you, please donate to the developer.

OK - I stand corrected - it isn't free - but what I did was SEARCH for free ones and found this one. Embarassed
