I have the Davis vantage pro2 plus (solor rad & uvi) and I really like it, but if I wanted to do a bit of an improvement, I kind of like the WeatherHawk 232.. http://www.weatherhawk.com/store/parts.cfm?parts=4Although I would never destroy my roof by bolting anything into the shingles, mounting it on one of the eave's 2x4's or on the 2x6 facer board would probably be okay.

Cool setup. How does the anemometer work though? The anemometer uses 3 ultrasonic sensors to detect both wind movement and direction with no moving parts. The rain gauge detects impacts of single droplets and can (via analysis of the sound spectrum of the impacts) tell the intensity of the precipitation and differentiate between rain and hail .. also with no moving parts.

Ken that sounds like an awesome station. Just curious but what does the NWS use at their reporting stations?

Single Droplets??? Holy Cow (in my best Harry Cary voice)...that's quite sensitive. Wonder if a bird dropped his 'stuff' on it, would it measure it?

Heck, if money were no object, I'd buy my own Doppler weather radar,
(I was going to say that I'd buy the NWS, but Rick Santorum sorta tried that, to no avail...)
