Saw it! On radar that is! I believe it was more of a dustnado than mesocyclonic by any extremes. Somehow GRLevel3 needs a recording feature for weather events. Then again that would defeat the purpose of GRLevel2... Just go here: http://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/nexradinv/ select the radar and products for the time frame you want to review, wait for the NCDC to send you an FTP link, download and watch the event in GR3 to your heart's content!

Should go back to 90s starting Thursday and should be the norm from there out down here.
Became a little chilly while the sun went down. 9:30P, breezy and 65... NICE!

Peaked at 75*F today...the next few days show upper 80s. Dad and I agreed to turn on the metal box on the roof this weekend (though I wanted to turn it on by Wednesday)...meanwhile, the renter we have wants his on tomorrow. Here's to a smashed/cut thumb setting it up.

Funny you should mention that. I'm about to haul out the ladder and drop my new motor in mine. 80 degrees and under 5MPH breezes right now.
I figure I'm out of relatively cool, breezy days & nites at this point. The house is starting to stay a little warmer each nite. 50* at 6:30A helps tho'!

I'm planning to drive up to Az/Ut border to watch. Should be a nice view near sunset. Good excuse to do some fishing at Lees Ferry too!

Oh yeaahhhhhhhhh...I remember seeing this on my calendar. I circled, spammed it on facebook a few times... =================================================== Lower 80s forecasted to mid 80s tomorrow, then a slight cool down to the mid 70s over the weekend. Trying to remember what to do during a solar eclipse...

yeah, a bunch of smoke up here, especially from the Gladiator fire near Crowne King. Can't complain though, no near-by threats. It's going to be a nervous wait for teh monsoon season though!

Albuquerque NWS put out a map of the smoke trail going up north into the Jemez, and hitting Santa Fe and Los Alamos. The last two sunsets around town (especially up north at the base of the Jemez) has been really orange. Unfortunately I was driving and didn't take pictures of it.
The annular Solar Eclipse is set to begin right around 630 and persist until sunset.
I have nothing to view this with...

Solar rings from the tree leaf shadows. My friend found a way to shoot pics with a wine glass full of wine. I couldn't find a #14 welder's mask.

That's a pretty cool effect!
I was trying to find stuff like that too but all I could come up with was it sinking behind my neighbors roof. That thing next to his Dish is what was once a beautiful, tall Cypress that was brutalized by that deep freeze a while back. We all lost a lot of stuff with those 3 days of sub-zero temps:

Maxed out at 90*F yesterday. Today's highs are in the upper 80s/lower 90s...and it'll be windy. Really windy.

That must be the one in Glenwood that gave me the interesting sunsets the last few days. Today it blended in nicely with all the desert blowing around...

Friday nights are my "party with friends" nights...I have to pick up a friend that lives 10 miles north of where I live...I hope the smoke doesn't settle til after midnight...I'd hate to have to pull over on a dark road a night and fight with the air box in my truck to clear it. (Damn Ford design). Last year the smoke was pretty thick and ash-y.

Friday morning was smoky, but the winds shifted more towards the south, and pushed the smoke plume west of Albuquerque..it came back around 9 last night (after some wicked sunset images and a red thumbnail of the moon)...and then the stars came out around 1030 last night. Driving home from a friends, I took the back roads and caught a sunken smoke plume.

I haven't checked/watched the sunsets the last few days but I can feel the little smoke we've had. The mornings have been hazy tho'. It should pick up the next few days...

The 2 week old, lightning ignited Willow Creek blaze is now declared as the largest wildfire in the history of New Mexico - 170,000+ acres with zero containment and predicted to be burning well into July. "It's the size of ABQ, Santa Fe and Rio Rancho combined".
The smoke is definitely collecting out here from this. This morning saw a layer sitting a few hundred feet off the ground and most of the day saw smokey skies. A 38MPH blast cleared some of it for a short while.
