I've always heard it to be "the first day after 3 consecutive days of Dew Point of 55 or more" but I never thought it would be different here or there.

That's the way it used to be here in AZ before the NWS created a "Monsoon Season".

Even at .3", you are at least you are getting *some* rain out of this season, which beats getting nothing ! That in itself is welcome news. Whenever I get missed by storms this time of year (which is every time !), I always contemplate that at least someone nearby got some badly needed rain.

Same here, Steve - "at least somewhere out here is getting wet" always crosses my mind. For me, the norm is watching the big RADAR blob split in two and fork around me.

One benefit lately is low-80s temps and all the cloud cover.

Developing into an interesting afternoon. Temp dropped almost 10 degrees over last hour and the sky is just one long, constant rumble that gets closer and crisper every minute. So far only a few drops to speak of but... something's coming from the south-east. Looks like a couple of somethings.

While I typed, the leading edge whipped around me going north, as usual, and the sky quieted down. Oh well...

Had some rumbles yesterday afternoon that clipped the northern end of town but did nothing but be gusty here. After that, a major cap took over the skies for the rest of the afternoon. Interesting sunset and moonrise last night though!

20% iso'd t-storms today...I expect little in the way of rain today. Some interesting cumulus building over the Sandias right now.

No rain at all, topped out at 88*F for a high. Dew point dropped below 50*F (sitting at 42*F as I type this), also, not quite as humid as it had been.

Beautiful day - mid 90s and perfect for some well needed pool maintenance and maybe a quick dip. By the time I got done and everything running smooth, the winds come, the clouds come, the thunder & lightning comes...

Started with a growl but only amounted to 0.03" so far with a 15 degree drop in temps in the last hour.

Picked up .16" about 20 minutes ago…still preliminary as there's a HUGE mass of storms west of here that may be spreading east as they move NE towards me.

-edit-

.05" about ten minutes prior to this edit. Bringing the total to .63" for the month. So we've finally passed half an inch. By that much.  Dancing

An additional .11" received over the last hour and a half. Mostly just drizzle, but today's total alone is .32"

The monthly total is now .74".  Very Happy

End of the week looks hot and for the most part, dry (iso'd thunderstorms, less than 30% chance).

Today though appears to be a soak-ALL-THE-THINGS day.

6 days of rain this month for a total of 0.41". I'm waiting for the "catch-up" storm.

I was dead wrong about yesterday. Mostly sunny skies gave way to partly cloudy skies…we got no rain at all.

Today we start hitting the lower 90s again with a chance of thunderstorms at 20%…looks like the forecast stays that way for the rest of the week.  Confused  Dewpoints are still reading around the double-nickel mark right now…but that could change very quickly today. Humidity is up around 65%

I'm waiting for that end-all storm where it pours an inch in 10 minutes, drops a few hailstones and then hits Albuquerque.

logged another whopping 0.01" over here in Sedona.  That makes 0.02" for the monsoon season.  others looked like they did a lot better today.  no doubt the conditions are right.

How I envision the month of july:

Rain
No rain
Rain
No rain
No rain
Rain
Rain
No Rain
No Rain

Picked up .12 of rain this evening...bringing the total to .86" for the month.

My 10% chances every nite turned into partly cloudy & mostly clear. No precip chances until Monday. It's too dynamic out here for any good handle on this. El Paso keeps getting the rain in buckets and I get an occasional light show.

Forecasted 20% chance isolated storms...received .36" of rain - the most for the month - topping the total for the entire month at 1.26" of rain.

 d'oh!

Tomorrow might be different.

Dewpoints are already below 50*F and cooling off. I suspect we'll be hitting upper 30s/lower 40s for dewpoints this afternoon. Humidity is around 30%.

FINALLY!!!  After getting spit at for a few days with .01" or .02" we had our first gulley washer today with .82".  Got about a quarter of my annual rainfall so far in about 20 minutes.  Cooled things down to about 65 deg too, which is a lot different than the 100's we had been seeing.  From the look of the radar, this is pretty widespread, so maybe the forests will survive another year!

Cold dewpoints, low humidity = no rain expected today. Though there's always the surprise sunset storm to change all that.

The forecast seems to be picking up moisture from a hurricane (or is it typhoon?) in the south Pacific off the coast of Mexico.

20% chance storms this afternoon, 50% chance tonight. Dewpoints are still rather cold…hovering around the 47*F marker.

20-30% chances all week. The cloud cover and cooler temps - mid 90s -aren't too bad except I can't get my pool to get back over 80 degrees when it drops overnite to mid-70s.
