Are there any plans in the near future for rain in your area Pat?? I remember when you were working on your record streak, that was insane!

That's what we need, Chris - more fires.  d'oh! Shocked

I'm at 41 days currently (#10 in the list) and I doubt I'll see any rain for a while. My 58 days earlier is at #6 of the Top Ten.

Today's temps were interesting for this day in station's history - new high AND low:

Right?  d'oh! Brick wall

No clue as to how it was started but it jumped highway 313 between Corrales and Bernalillo, and threatened a major natural gas line. I haven't heard different since 6 this afternoon, though the east canyon winds are expect to blow the embers back into Corrales overnight tonight (winds in the area are currently fanning about 30 MPH with gusts nearing 40 MPH down there by the river.) Those farmers down there don't need a huge loss right now. Pray

No kidding about the farmers. It's a big enough struggle for them with the drought and now possible fire loss?

That will make things interesting if that gas line gets more involved. Down here, whenever the fires start in the middle east AZ/west NM areas, we stand to lose major hi-volt transmission lines from the AZ nuke plant that El Paso Elec buys from. Do those lines serve you up there as well?

They've put the majority of the fire out today, there are still hot spots.

We get our power from the coal plant east of Farmington, New Mexico.

I'm not usually one to be too optimistic when it comes to rain, but I'm really starting to feel like there's a pattern change that's beginning to look like a monsoon setup.  I haven't been seeing dewpoints as high as you have over in NM yet, but I wouldn't doubt that we'll start seeing some airflow from Mexico starting over the next few days.  The high pressure that was sitting down over Baja seems to be breaking up and shifting east to where it'll help us all get some moisture in the air.  fingers are crossed.  56 dry days and counting.

The last few days have had thunderstorms nearby, but that might be residual moisture from the cold front that blew through a couple nights ago. It gets really hot up here Monday through Wednesday (upper 90s, 99*F on Sunday).

This is about that time of year when the monsoon pattern starts firing up. Although there have been years where it hasn't started til late July. (I think 2007 or 2008 was one of those years, but I might be wrong on either account).

July of '08 was brutal after only 0.42" to July 1st down here.

TS Debbie could provide a little push in the moisture later down here if it builds up cleanly but I'm not seeing it. I think it'll break down if it heads straight towards TX.

wow, dewpoint has really popped up in the last 24 hours.  now in mid-50's.  that's pretty much the tipping point for T-storms around here.  hopefully it'll turn into some precip.  nothin but green scum left in the bottom of the rain barrels.

Sounds like you're getting there.  Applause

I'm still running 40s but sliding back down a bit. Only 40.9 avg yesterday but no more of these early morning sub-20s. The late afternoon clouds are showing up more & more but still nothing but 100s and 'sunny' or 'mostly clear' in the forecast.

The swamp cooler begins to battle at this point.

From the NWS WFO in Albuquerque:

*WARNING: Large GIF image*

Forecast shows continuation of upper-90s here, with slight chances of thunderstorms Thursday through Saturday. My WX station reads 22*F for the dew point as I type this.

And the swamp cooler is pushing in 73*F air right now. On any "normal" summer day, it's pushing in 65-70*F air.

no joy today as far as T-storm activity.  some VERY distant thunder.   looked like they had some action about 40 miles east.  still, I like the 50 deg dewpoints I'm seeing right now.   60 days and counting.  I really want to see some rain.

Showing 10% precip chance on Friday. I'm sure I'll watch off in the distance to my north.

My 47 days is now my #7 in my list. 58 days is the next position. The rain days that ended that streak was the last I've seen since.

The scattered showers that might show up here Friday are said to have more of a chance east of me leaving us with gusty winds and dry lightning.

Dew pt dropping back down to the 30s, humidity back down to the 10ish range making the 104.5 high much easier to work with outside.

some rain to the left of me, some rain to the right of me, but no rain in my bucket.  dewpoints are staying in the 50's range, which still means there's hope.  I have to remind myself that every year the monsoon has to go through its "teasing" phase.  61 days and counting.   In the meantime, I think I'm going to see another record fall.  Consecutive days with temps above 100 F.  Record for my site is 14 days (July 2003).  I'm at 11 now, and it looks like it's going to stay pretty hot.

So the NWS/NOAA and FEMA is sending out the WEA text alerts.

Dad received one in regards to a Flood Advisory north of here, but he's the only one in the house that got the text.

Looks like up north of here and AZ should be getting some wet. Next week might be my time.

104.9 today - my hottest June 28 by 2.9 degrees over last year's.

Right now I have a grey cloud overhead that is pitter-pattering a few drops. Can't hear anything on the skylites but can see a few hitting the pool. I doubt it will tipping a bucket but, at this point, it's an odd site. 50 days and counting.

I've blown my previous date-high temp out of the water. Last year - 100.6 and 104.7 so far today.

EDIT: I got a bucket tip, I got a bucket tip, neener neener neeeeeener! The 50th day, leaving me 49 straight dry days; #7 in my top ten.

64 days and counting.  dewpoint is back down in the 30's again.  looks like the monsoon flow might try to set up again late next week.
