Hello everyone!

I'm having a lot of trouble with my dew point readings.  I had the same trouble last year.  All fall and winter my readings will be great.  Spring and Summer they go crazy but my humidity is readings are normal.  Below is a link to my CWOP page.

http://weather.gladstonefamily.net/site/C9336?tile=10;humidity=0#dewpoint

Yesterday's number are a little extra screwy because I had tried to make adjustments.  I stopped playing with it about 3PM EDT. Any one have any thoughts?

I'm having a lot of trouble with my dew point readings.

It looks like your temperature is spot-on.  It also looks like your humidity is swinging a little more than the standard.  Since the dewpoint is a calculated value from data you send in, and the station(s) you are being compared to is a mystery, it's hard to say if it's you or the other guy that's off.  If you think you're close to correct, don't worry about it.  Smile

Most of your comparables are east of you.  Closer to the lake.  It makes sense they will have higher humidity at times.  Winter the lake is mostly frozen, so perhaps its not as noticeable.

Andrew

ps: I assume/hope these are in your actual comparables, but your list of neighbouring stations is odd.  2 dont list any data, 2 only upload temperature... and one of those thinks they are 621 meters above sea level.

From my qa page (I added the bold):

This is a list of stations that are close to this station. Note that this is not the list of stations that are used in the data analysis. That list of stations is known only to MADIS.

It's a mystery.   Think

I think the station I'm compared to is to my west (because mine changes about 30 minutes ahead of the red line), but I'll never know for sure.

I knew that was not your peer group, but sometimes it can give you an idea.  All else being equal (good numbers historically) if all of sudden you are 20% off the 10 closest stations, and 2 are airports, chances are its you.

Its too bad they dont give some indication. 1,2,-5-? station average min.... within x miles, with a track record of y days reporting, knocked out if so and so happens.

Yes, you're exactly right Andrew.  Smile

Didn't mean to hijack the thread.   Embarassed

Lynette - give it a couple more days and see if it continues.  Perhaps consider sending phillip gladstone an email about it (and/or the qa mailing list)
