Here's my problem, my house is socked in with large 150+ oak trees and so forth. So is trying to set up a weather station basically pee peeing in the wind?? I have a open area I could set up a rain gauge, but would think that same area would effect the wind and wind direction cause of the large trees around. I live in a two story house so mounting those gauges on the roof would get them pretty high, but still have the problem with tree blockage and getting accurate data. Anyone else have this problem???  What to do??

It's rare when someone has the perfect place for a weather station.  We all have to compromise to some extent.  I moved sensors all over my property several times until I found a place that was adequate (but still not perfect).

Some stations have the sensors all in one unit.  Other stations have the sensors separate so you can place them in different places.  You have to decide how much station you can afford, and where you can place the station/sensors.

If it was easy, it would be a boring hobby!

Good luck!

I agree with Slow Modem.  A weather station is supposed to be measuring what the weather is at a particular place.  My annemometer is located about 40 feet away from some trees to it's North.  I used the CWOP guide to get the highest score I could on placement and I just have to live with the way things are. Very Happy
