Looks like we migth get a nasty spring storm here. Triple point is almost part of the curl rather then away from center. Present reading 970 mb and it forecast to deepen. The last one couple weeks ago that looked like this had 65 knot winds with it. This one about  60 hours out if it doesn't swing lower.

We might be getting some in about a week.

From John Lindsey's, the local PG&E meteorologist, forecast today:

"A major change in the weather pattern will develop on Monday as the
storm track shifts southward into California.

A weak cold front will move down the California coastline on Monday,
reaching the Central Coast Monday night with light to gentle southerly
    winds and light rain showers.

A late season 984 millibar storm is forecast to develop off the Northern
California coastline on Tuesday and move eastward towards the Bay Area.
The associated cold front is expected to intensify as it moves southward
towards the Central Coast late Tuesday night into Wednesday. This vigorous
weather system will give strong to gale force (25-38 mph) southerly winds
and moderate rain. Heavy snowfall is forecast in the Sierra Nevada
    mountains during this period.

A brief break in the weather is expected Thursday morning then a much
colder weather system will cross the Central Coast next Thursday afternoon
and night with snow levels reaching as low as 2,500 feet. "

2,500' is lower than the ridge to our north, and it's not unheard of to have snow on those mountains for a day or 2 in March. Not common, either. Maybe once every 3 or 4 years.

It looks like we are due to get your series of storms down here in Nevada/California beginning this afternoon. They are predicting 110mph+ winds over the SIERRA crest this evening into tomorrow and downslope winds of 100mph+ for the valleys to the east of the SIERRAs. It's going to be an interesting 48 to 72 hours of high winds to watch.

We're currently getting SE winds of 15-25 w/Gusts to 31mph as of 10:40am this morning and it supposedly hasn't even gotten here yet  Shocked

We're seeing 30 mph winds with gusts nearing 50 mph. We're also seeing temp drops. We hit 56 at 10am local time here..now we're down to 52. It's supposed to rain, with thunderstorms later this afternoon (which I freak out on because the last time we saw weather like this, we got hen egg sized hail). And I guess the SPC is predicting severe weather across OK and KS tonight. So I have GRLevel3 running at Vance AFB in OK, and the SPC's new Mesoanalysis page: http://www.spc.noaa.gov/exper/mesoanalysis/new/# focused on the Midwest, where a narrow (but growing) axis of instability is developing. It'll be interesting to see how this turns out.
