Hi everyone! New to the forum and first post. I just bought GR level3 and Allision-House.Kinda getting it up and running. I am still using the default storm icons. Hoping someone might lead me to a storm legend that matches the default icons(I've never seen them as no storms yet, but this is Oklahoma). Also what might be a good color table/background to start with as there are so many out there.
Thanks, Doug

Hi and welcome to the forum Applause.  Choosing a color table for reflectivity is mostly a matter what you like as to colors ect.  I personally use "Aegisglowingreflectivity.pal"  and  080smoothrefl.pal".  I also use several others. I have quite a few downloaded to try.  I still go back and forth.  I don't use a background most of the time.  I prefer the black background.  I do have one loaded to use.  It is "48USAcolshadebrown.bmp"
Good luck!

I too use the black background.  For a little over a year now, I've been also using "non-smoothed" simply b/c it allows me to detect weak rotation and inflow notches better.  As for as color tables....yea, personal preference.  I must have about 50 of them and every now and then I switch up to make things look a little different.

http://www.grlevelxstuff.com has a good assortment of icons and such.  Also, if you're looking for placefiles, http://www.grlevelxmods.com is pretty much the jackpot.  I canceled my Allisonhouse account b/c the only thing I was paying for was lightning.  Everything else can pretty much be found free on the net.

Thanks for the replies. Worked on my web site some more last night.
Home Page: http://www.ardmoreweatherlive.com/
Radar page:http://www.ardmoreweatherlive.com/wx3.html
Test loop:http://www.ardmoreweatherlive.com/wx21.html
I think the static radar and the loop are coming along but the home page looks bad. Uploading the same size image for home page and static(750x600). What do I do to better the home page? Would up loading a smaller image help the looks of the home page? Maybe 410x340 ?
Thoughts, comments wont hurt my feelings. Hit me with your best shot!
Thanks Doug.

I don't think your homepage looks all that bad.  I have not set up a website yet so I will offer no advice on what to do.  But, personally I think it looks alright. JMHO

Thanks! I run wide screen at the house and home page looks better there, but I'm at work today and we have 19" square monitors here and the county lines only show about 50% and the city names are unreadable.

Doug,
The only suggestion I would have is a title over the Radar image. Everything else is well titled but a lot of times, especially when there is nothing on the radar, it is not obvious what the display is of.

Some of these "make your own place files" (such as GRLevelXMods) don't show up. What's up with that?

Server or script issues at their end, or web glitches between you and them.  Also the more placefiles you use, the more they can conflict with each other and load down your performance.

I only use information from the Owner's board, not the fan sites.

I use a background map with placefiles for local roads and some local landmarks, and the SWODY1 and VALIDWW files from TornadoCentral.  I don't see any reason for much else.

The guy behind the site has been making renovations and such.  His products are pretty neat, however they do go down from time to time when he makes changes.

Doug,
I suggest you use an image handler if you wish to keep that shrunken view on your home page and keep the large version for other uses.   Simply shrinking a large png file makes text, etc look jumbled.

Here is a 410*340 view (same resolution used on your home page) of your graphic, converted using an image handler.

Not perfect, but the city/town names are quite readable now.
