2 years ago I bought my first WMR100 and it came with batteries, can't remember the exact name but they lasted for quite some time even though in TX the temp extremes are significant.
So, last Oct I got my new 200 and it also comes with batteries, these I WILL remember, they're Maxell's and their lifetime is measured in days, not months. The 200 console failed within 6 weeks, the anemometer slightly longer, the temp sensor about 2 months. So in Jan I added a second sensor and UV detector, again about 6 weeks. Maybe a bad "batch" from Maxell, or maybe OS is going cheap? I'm back to the good old copper tops even though they're pricey in MX.

Mine also came with those Maxell batteries. They're so darn like, it's lite they're made of paper LOL. However, I didn't risk putting them in my sensors.

Batteries are the bane of modern existence!  Nothing wrong with Maxell batteries--OS has been shipping products with them for years now. Sure there could have been a "bad batch" from the factory, or they could have been from an old dusty corner of the mfr or distributor before being packaged w/OS product which could have sat on a shelf somewhere...etc. ad nauseum. When they crap-out try Lithiums next time (Eveready Energizer iirc). Yeah they're light as paper too!  |

Does the 100/200 protocol 3 sensor use more juice? I get 1.5-2+ years out of my 968 (protocol 2.1) remotes, be they inside or out, using alkaline duracell or energizers.

I have no idea. I've only had the 200. I do change my batteries every 6 - 8 months just for the heck of it though. I figure with my luck, if I don't change them routinely like that, they'll go dead and I'll be out of town for a week or something LOL

I only change the indoor temp/hyd/baro routinely. If that one gets low, the pressure readings go very wonky, sky rockect, then plummet (or vice versa)... the "extra" sensors just slowly fail. The only "risk" on the extras is a vws restart, and get stuck due to missing sensor if it were to die randomly. Of course I ran an extra sensor a full year with the battery low indicator on it once, back when it was just connect to the Shack base station.

When they crap-out try Lithiums next time (Eveready Energizer iirc). Yeah they're light as paper too! I've looked for Lithiums here, but have not found them anywhere. I think that was what was sent with the original WMR100, as I recall that's what they recommend - not what they send. |

Wal Mart shows to have the 123 style Lithium batteries here but also shows them in limited supply. I am going to check and make sure they do have them in stock! Kinda looks like I may be needing one sooner than I want  |

 Energizer lithium batteries are the only way to go. If you can't locate them locally, there's always the internet. They're the only batteries I purchase for my sensors, and have never had a problem with early demise or leaks. Henry

Henry I wish, living in a small village in the mountains of central MX puts a new edge on the convenience I used to take for granted, if it wasn't available in Austin, then I just had it sent to me - times have changed; for me at least. |
