Here are pics from my yard this morning.  This was just prior to the last "heavier" band that moved through.  I measured 1.5" total on a snow board.  Temps remained just above freezing for the entire snowfall.  Not too bad for deep south Louisiana, however nothing compared to the 8 inches I received on December 11, 2008 which knocked my power out for a week.  Talk about crippling cajuns!  LOL

Impressive for that far South. It's snowing now in Wilmington, NC--a bit unusual... some accumulation on the grass, but not on hard surfaces... yet...

I was in New Orleans '88-90 when the "big one" hit (well, the big freeze and snow), although I had gone home to visit family around Christmas time, so I missed it, but came back to evidence of the freezing temps I had missed...

Ah yes, I remember that one.  I was only a kid then, but I do remember the edges of the bayous frozen.  We stayed below freezing for almost a week and had 4" of snow on the ground for about 4 days.  That was my first "real" winter weather experience.

Thanks.

These shots below are of December 11, 2008 down here from my yard.  I don't think I'll ever see this much snow down here again.  This was caused by a potent ULL moving out of TX.  It was forecasted to remain offshore, but instead remained just inland putting the core of the cold center overland rather than over water.  As the ULL moved closer, it began slowing forward progress and bending northward keeping us in heavy snow for about 6 hours with snow rates of over 1" per hour.  I had 8 inches by the time it was over and was out of power for a week.  It was beautiful, but I don't know how you guys up north deal with this every day LOL  (I guess you guys say the same about us dealing with 120 degree heat indexes down here)  Smile

Beautiful pictures!   Applause

Also looks familiar.  We have number 3 storm in just as many weeks coming in here tomorrow night with another 4-6" expected.  Keeps the snow coating fresh and white when it gets renewed every few days.    Dancing
