I will be switching my update application for CWOP data. Do I need to contact them? Anything else I should be aware of?

I don't think it matters what software you use to upload your data. Just that you do it.
That is if I understand your  question correctly.
Also they do request that your updates are offset. By that I mean instead of uploading at 12.00, upload at 12.03, 12:18, 12:33 etc.
Their servers get very taxed when everyone does it at the top of the hour.

WD sends the data at the minute that corresponds to the last number in your CWOP number
so thats OK

I just done this a while back and can tell you that it does not matter as far as the system goes, it will auto detect what you are updating with and the station type from the  information string sent by the software. In a hour or so you should see the change from VWS to Weather Display on your intro page at CWOP.

Enjoy !  Dancing

Thanks everyone. I will make the switch when the weather is a little less interesting here.

I switched from VWS to VPLive with no issues.  It just picked it up and went.

I made the same switch... was painless. I am sure you thought of this, just remember to take vwsaprs out of your startup...

I went the VPLive route first as I wanted to do but for some reason it had a terrible time locating my station comport.
And I changed things in a hurry so I didn't mess around with it too much at that time and just let WD handle that part of the show.
May go back and play around with it some more later just to be sure.
I need to add VirtualVP so maybe that will be a good time to implement the change..
Steve definitely has some excellent products.

On the subject of upload offset, does anyone know if there is a way to set VP Live up with an offset? I don't see any options for this. Mine is running on the hour (every 10 min) right now. It hasn't always done this. I have seen it much of the time running on the 9s (09, 29, 39, etc.).

Mark,
To the best of my knowledge, VPLive picks up its CWOP upload time from the last digit of your CWOP number. In addition to the final digit, there is a random addition of between +59 seconds and -59 seconds. This is done to limit the server burden of high volume uploads. Therefore, with my number of CW6097, my uploads are between 6:01 and 7:59 at 10 minute intervals. And Steve, if this has been revised, please accept my apologies.

WD does something similar, with the minute to send data based on the last digit of your CWOP number, to help to reduce peak load on the servers

Just following up: I finally moved CWOP and Weather Underground reporting tasks over to Weather Display yesterday. No issues. I am now completely transitioned to WD Dancing.
